A video that makes a lot of sense

Re: And then there's this guy.

in my experience if you're into details and heritage of one hobby: motorcycles, guns, boats, tech, you'd be into all of your other hobbies or interests. That makes sense. Like most of us on these forums who care, once we get into something we try to learn as much as possible about that thing. :)

I have nothing wrong with the youtube reviewers. I watch Sakitech and a couple of the others and like hearing their opinions and sometimes they have tips and tricks too since that is what they do all day. I wonder what Sakitech's job is. Drives a $$$ car and always buying tech stuff.

Then you got reviewers like Flossy Carter who are not really into tech details but are more entertainment. I don't learn much from him because he's basically just pimping the latest phone and other BS and not really going into the details. He appeals to the masses more, but not me really. I don't need someone spouting off the same BS about specs that I can find on the manufacturers website.

for us it's all hot air.

1) who care what he thinks.
2) he is not a Note users, so what difference does it make if he approves or disapproves of the device.
3) I don't need some je**of* telling me what I should do, when I already am a tech-expert and work in the industry.
4) anyone who visits these forums on regular basis and is a contributor knows more than any of these so called nothings on youtube.
5) what I do like on YouTube are tips and tricks videos.
6) do you honestly think a 22 year old girl who is deciding between iPhone 7 or S8 is going to even bother watching these ugly bastards? No way!
7) so these so called opinions by non Note users about a device that is used primarily by the professionals is utterly useless and a total waste of time.
8) as I said before blame the pricing on the S8 and note the Note 8.

Cheers,

Cool story.

You must care because you keep commenting on it.

The video wasn't even directed towards you or Note users. He said it right at the beginning. And he wasn't telling you or anyone what to do.

But hey, those 1,722,000 viewers of the video must be tech experts like you.

Cheers. :D

Re: And then there's this guy.

And price point is a non issue with any form of trade in. Dumping off $480 by trading in my VZW Note 5. No brainer. I get the "average joe" paying full retail if their carrier doesnt offer credit may feel some sticker shock since all phones including Apple are reaching that $1k Mark. Thing is that most big name carriers do offer some form of credit so in actuality you are paying the same if not less than other top tier phones like the S8+. Hell, after my trade in I will only owe $450 which is mind blowing if you think about what's under the hood of this beast.

It's like anything that's not pro note 8 is forbidden and they are wrong. This guy just showed another perspective to look at. I for one want to see the good and bad before I buy.

Re: And then there's this guy.

I bet all these Youtubers will justify the new iPhone Edition price tag, and it's almost a guarantee that it'll be more expensive than the Note 8.

I don't care about the content of their videos, whether it's positive or negative toward Note. I am not a fanboy and am not saying Note is good or bad. It's just a pro tool and its priced was set based on the S8.

your opinion of my expertise or lack thereof is of no value to me.

That guy's opinion is of no value to the group on this site, as I explained, since we know all the pros and cons and don't need to be reminded. We discuss them ad-nauseum.

1.7 mil or 2 people makes no difference in this case. What would make a difference if he was a YT personality and had a talent to share. Not just state the simple facts to the uninformed, plus an nu-required opinion.

Also not all high volume is of value, think of McDonalds. :)

Re: And then there's this guy.

Don't disagree.
Since I'm a notefanboy, I'm just glad it IS for me and I didn't have to listen to him say how nice the phone is but it's....
'probably not for you'.
In other words, he's saying 'it's a really nice BIG phone. Honey, this phone is too much phone for you.
Buuuuuttt, perhaps a nice simple flip phone with big numbers is more in line with what you want'.

It's a TALL phone not a BIG phone. I would have preferred a teensy weensy wider rather than taller but that SPEN is not the only enhancement the Note 8 has to offer. I have been waiting for this phone for 9 months and I have the S8+ now but I'm going for the Note 8 without any reservations.
And as far as a flip phone at least it would fit in your pocket....LOL

Re: And then there's this guy.

He didn't once blow hot air. He laid it out exactly for what it was and said most people would be better suited for the S8 or S8+. Let's not delude ourselves thinking the Note 8 is an inexpensive device.

I haven't seen a single person claim it's inexpensive.

Re: And then there's this guy.

Not interested in what any of these you tubers say to be honest. I'd seen the leaks, I watched the unpacked event and I used this information to make up my mind whether I wanted the phone or not. Simple.

I think America and South Korea really deserve the discount as they were most effected by the debacle. In the UK the phone got recalled before it was officially released only a few were lucky enough to get one early if the had pre-ordered.

South Korea and America were one of the very few places where the note 7 was officially released and people had their phones for weeks before issues started happening. Additionally the phone went back on sale in these places before the second recall. In other places it didn't even go on sale. I think Samsung are being very humble and generous here.

Let's rather not talk about who deserves it or not.

Re: And then there's this guy.

Big phones are the thing nowadays. When I got my Note 2 people would make fun of it being so big, now that's small.

Blah blah blah. ... I can't afford a Note 8 blah blah blah No one should be allowed to buy one blah blah blah ... buy an S8+ because I have one and it will make me feel better that you buy one blah blah blah ....

Do people really pay attention and make decisions based on whiners like this guy. If you don't like the Note 8 and don't like the price don't buy one. Make your own decisions. I am buying a Note 8 and I am not paying 1k, I am not trading in a phone. My cost will be a less than $30 more than I paid for my Note 4.

I want a $100K+ BMW, but I want to pay the about the same as a Honda Accord. Let's all boycott BMW until they lower the price.

True. If you visit there you can still use your phones but you have to buy a North Korea SIM card which doesn't allow internet access and your phone calls are also monitored.

There was an article a few months back about North Korea phones and it showed Kim Jong Un using an new model HTC phone. Don't remember which model but I doubt most there could buy it. I think Air Koryo models are the only phones for sale there like this POS. Yet, just a few miles away in South Korea they have the newest phones and even get them earlier than we do in the states.

Btw why do the Asian markets like South Korea, China, Japan get better versions of these phones? With more RAM and memory. Why don't they sell them in the states? is it because they figure the price would be too high?

I think it's because there is a lot more competition from android OEMs in Asia. There thousands of companies, most of which we've never even heard of in the West making what we consider to be top end phones at budget prices. So companies like Samsung need to differentiate themselves to compete. This is why they add extra features, specs, colours etc.

Hey I had the original galaxy note. Everyone laughed at me, saying it was ridiculous, was too big. Especially my dad and husband. Flash forward a few years later, my dad now uses a note 4 and my husband uses a Samsung S6 edge plus and is upgrading to the note 8 in September.

There is a reason why... it’s because Samsung or any other manufacturer thinks they can push as high as they can until they find out otherwise.

So to tell people not to frequent the board if they have a problem with price is ridiculous.

I actually consider us in the U.S. lucky we can argue about the $950 or $1000 price tag. They price it at that for us because they KNOW not to mess with us and try pushing over $1000.

How do I know this? While you can buy a Note 8 for $930 here in US... how much is the same phone in Canada?? 1299 canadian! That comes to $1049 US dollars.

God bless America lol. I’d hate to be thinking of buying a Note 8 in other countries. But it’s because of discussion like this that help.
What's $1499AU in US, because that's the price here?

I find this thread funny. You can't tell me that anyone considering an expensive, niche device like the Note8, doesn't already know that the S8/S8+(the most popular Android phones this year thus far) are also options, without being told by some YouTube blogger.

The whole thing feels disingenuous to me. And don't try to tell me they're speaking to the average consumer who happens upon their obscure channel. No, they're speaking directly to fellow phone enthusiasts. Hilarious.

Of course the video makes sense. And we knew that already.

Do you mean offers the same for so much less? Dun think S8+ offers more except for the battery.
