A video that makes a lot of sense

Re: And then there's this guy.

I watched this and he was spot on everything he said. He acknowledged the Note 8 was a premium device. But he also said how the S8 plus was almost everything the Note 8 was bar the S pen which he rightfully said most people except artists would use frequently. His argument is that the S8 plus price has come down significantly to not justify the extra for the Note 8.

I have seen heaps of videos of the S pen and to be honest, the only actual useful feature for me is the off screen note taking. But even with my S5, I have an Evernote widget plus increased touch sensitivity on my display settings. With an ordinary pencil I can easily take handwritten notes for shopping lists and the like.

I plan definitely to upgrade next year. If the S9 has the embedded FPS then I'll probably skip the Note 9. I do like the S pen, but really, I'm not a teenage girl that looks forward to animated GIFs of YouTube and messages.

Googled... $1192 US
I imagine you guys are paying more for the S8/+ than US too eh?
Is an iPhone 7+ (64gb) going for $1200 US over there too?

I wonder if Samsung didn't give the US most favorite country status/pricing and listed the Note 8 the same as Canada/Aus at $1100 or $1200, if people would find this thread still funny. I wonder at what price it would become too much for some. $1200 would do it for me.

What's $1499AU in US, because that's the price here?

Neither am I. I'm a construction manager and find the pen to be very useful for work. I get that many have no real need or use for it, but that last comment shows that you don't really understand how others use it. That's OK. Honestly, if I didn't make such good use of the Pen, there are other phones I would be very interested in rather then the Note.

Happy to be corrected and shown the more serious uses of the S pen apart from the off screen memos. Not really interested in GIF and drawing.

I basically going to upgrade to the first Galaxy with the embedded scanner. That's what I'm really waiting for. Anything else is a bonus.

Right now from Verizon with their trade in promotions, it's cheaper for me to get a Note 8 than it is S8 plus.

Re: And then there's this guy.

I don't see anything wrong with what he says. If you don't want S Pen and 6 GB RAM he says buy the S8+ which provides everything else other than dual camera. He is not thrashing the Note or telling someone to buy iPhone, Pixel or any other non Samsung device.

I agreed with what he said as well. He doesn't think the price tag is worth it over what the S8 or S8+ has to offers at it's current price.

Re: And then there's this guy.

I agree with several posts here, The note has always been targeted at a very specific group of users. I have loved the Note devices since the very 1st one (even had a boss joke about me holding a VCR up to my head)
everyone has an opinion, decide what YOU want to do and find your device.. for me that's usually a Note. I currently have an S8+ and use a stylus and miss the precise control the s-pen offers. I can't wait for my Note 8. I do think they are getting a tad over priced tho.

Cheers,
BR

People have to ask themselves, why would they want a Note device in the first place? I see a lot of people that were posting on the S8 forums, suddenly here in the Note one complaining about price.

Is it just because it's the latest Samsung device? Or is it truly a love of S-pen functionality?

"Unless you need an S-pen". Uh, yeah, that's why I'm here... lol

It should be, you're giving them a phone. I can sell my phone on swappa and make the s8 plus cheaper. The promo does make some phones worth more, obviously, but you get the point. I don't know if I would trade in my s8 plus on this promo.

And the Verizon promo is spread out over 2 years, so no early paying it off without losing part of your trade in value

Mod Note: Hey guys! Let's make sure we are sticking to topic and not discussing each other. Thanks!

Don't get me wrong, if I upgraded now I'd get the Note over the S8 even though I doubt I would use the S pen much. Even though I can take handwritten notes on my S5 with a pencil and Evernote widget and I can even multi window and app pair on my 3 yr old Galaxy S5.

Simply because it's 6 GB RAM and the dual cameras. RAM management on my S5 isn't good so I'd want the maximum RAM I could have.

Re: And then there's this guy.

And price point is a non issue with any form of trade in. Dumping off $480 by trading in my VZW Note 5. No brainer. I get the "average joe" paying full retail if their carrier doesnt offer credit may feel some sticker shock since all phones including Apple are reaching that $1k Mark. Thing is that most big name carriers do offer some form of credit so in actuality you are paying the same if not less than other top tier phones like the S8+. Hell, after my trade in I will only owe $450 which is mind blowing if you think about what's under the hood of this beast.

Trade in is still money out of your pocket... if you have a paid off S7E you can sell it online and make some money... maybe not $480 but some. So that is a cost too.
