Absolutely IRATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't get why people would buy a phone at best buy when you can go get it straight from the provider? was it for the $100 instant rebate?

I'd rather get it from the source....from knowledgable sales people who only sell verizon cell phones.....and seem to care about takign care of their customers.

I go to best buy when I am looking for cheap electronics and I don't need any customer service help...just my opinion though. I guess it comes enough years of seeing that "you get what you pay for" is really a true statement.

yes...unfortunately I am a little short stacked so I wanted the instant rebate.

wait...what???? sold to employees?? You called the W. Charleston one right?? The dude said they called everyone on the pre-order list...so did they get more than 5 and then divy the rest out to their employees??

Looks like I'll be waiting in the parking lot after they close.

BTW did u ask if those were for tomorrows shipment if there is a shipment??

As said before, it was a joke, obviously.
Take the advise of everyone here and just buy it somewhere else.

BTW: your post didn't have your location in it, your account doesn't appear to have a location in it, so how would I know what city you're in, let alone what store in your city I should call? Sorry if it was a bit of a cruel joke, just thought it would be an obvious gag, hence the "ZOMG!1!!1".

The poster who said they called the store and they were sold to employees was joking.

And I'd like to apologize to the employees at the W. Charleston store who now have to try to convince llasch that there is no conspiracy, and that they honestly didn't sell the 5 phones to employees, etc.

The whole preorder thing is funny because so many companies are doing preorders and then don't have enough to cover orders and then basically just tell you you will get yours whenever they get one in, they did this with Incredible and iPhone.... I refuse to give my money to someone in advance to receive something quicker and then be told to wait because lack of stock. Easier to just go to store and this way if they got one they get my cash but if not Life Moves On and nothing lost.

I understand your response..... Hopefully everything works out for you.

Don't feel bad...my local Verizon store has told me 3 different things each time I called/went by there:

Call 1: Pre-order/List ? "No, sir its first come first serve"

Dropped by to see Demo: "Oh, sir you need to be on our appointment/order list" *put me on list*

Call 2: Verizon rep called me "Sir, we are opening up early on launch date. Its first come first serve but I still have your name on the list, what time will you be arriving?" "If we run out, I'll be happy to order one for you"

WTF

The store near me was promised 10 for launch.

They just received word today that their warehouse effed up, and none of their stores would have the phones for launch. Mistakes happen.

Not sure what you're upset about.
Best Buy has no control over how many phones they're getting and a waiting list is in no way a guarantee.

If the part about selling to employees is true, that's something to legitimately get upset about.

Not sure what I'm upset about??? Ok I'll type it out again one last time...try to follow

I am upset that I was told that I would have my phone on the day of the launch...which is tomorrow. A waiting list isn't a guarantee but when an employee tells me I will have a phone well you sort of count on having it now don't you??

At what point did I ever say they had a control over their inventory?? I know it's all on Moto regarding the inventory...not BB...even though 5 untis is a pretty sad number haha

Dude... Just chill... As been mentioned a thousand times over. Did they give you a written guarantee that you would have one tomorrow? Word of mouth doesn't mean a thing in retail when the guy who's simply doing his job suddenly gets word that his shipment has been cut but will have them later in the week.

yeah, that's why Best Buy stopped the pre-orders and changed it to explicitly say that there was no guarantee you'd get one on launch before allowing them again.

Sucks what happens but I'm sure a lot of the Droid X customers expected what we EVO buyers got. Pre-order one before a certain date and you were guaranteed one.

I think everyone should just chill out - I don't know about you guys, but I'm just going to camp a Verizon store entrance from like 4AM :D

I would do that, but the store in town that opens at 9AM isn't opening early, and the store that opens at 10AM is only opening an hour early. With work starting at 8AM for me, I'd prefer to not take 1.5-2 hours off to get it. If they would open at 8 like they did for the BB Storm launch I'd be there. I'll just wait for mine to come in on Friday.

I was part of the first wave and they still explicitly told me that they weren't guaranteeing that I'd get it on launch day. It was spelled out from day one, if you actually read the fine print. As a previous poster wrote, you can't trust a salesman's word. Tommy Callahan (Tommy Boy) said it best:

Tommy: Here's the way I see it, Ted. Guy puts a fancy guarantee on a box 'cause he wants you to feel all warm and toasty inside.

Customer: Yeah, makes a man feel good.

Tommy: 'Course it does. Why shouldn't it? Ya figure you put that little box under your pillow at night, the Guarantee Fairy might come by and leave a quarter, am I right, Ted?
