I used to rely heavily on weather and news apps and widgets, but they all became obsolete after the 2.1 update. Don't get me wrong, its not that the native widget is so great, but it is native, and it works flawlessly, and I found myself never opening any of my other news and weather apps any more.

I purposefully left out key apps that came stock with the Droid like Google Maps, Facebook, Email, Market and Browser, all of which I use constantly.

A separate mention goes to HelixLauncher which really isn't an app.

And as far as games go, I've downloaded tons, but I consistently play only Chess and Air Control

Astrid - Love the syncing with Remember the Milk aspect
Astro - Great for browsing files, application backups (except for those marked private)
Handcent - Auto-split is great and I'm using it again now that MMS works again on my droid
BeyondPod - Great podcast application
Tasker - Still in beta, but I'll gladly buy it once it is released officially. It allows you to set conditions on anything. I've used one of the setup scripts to set my camera button to bring up a menu of applications instead of just launching the camera. I also use it to set volume levels, wifi settings, and etc. based on GPS location. Locale just doesn't measure up to this.

Still looking for my favorite twitter app though

1. Weather and Toggle Widgets w/ Weather Widget Forecast Addon (obvious reasons)
2. NewsRob (for keeping track of essebtial RSS feeds such as AndroidCentral, Phandroid, and POWM)
3. Tapatalk (for keeping up with the forums on the go (hint, hint))
4. GStrings (need to keep that six string in tune)
5. Dolphin Browser (Multi-touch from the beginning, and so many other features)
6. GroceryIQ (Most in depth shopping list app I've found, allows sharing with the wife's Droid, and COUPONS!)
7. SetCPU (So many apps, 550Mhz just wasn't cutting it)
8. TempMonitor (quick glance CPU/Batt temp in the notification bar, goes hand in hand with #7)
9. RomManager (NANDROID,NANDROID,NANDROID)
10. AndWobble (just for giggles)
