This will cause negativity towards a device because who wants to pay more when you are already signing up for a 2 year contract (24 months X 75$ min. = $1800) which is a lot of money already.

I Agree with your post but this part is a bad example. When you buy a car you don't add the price of gas to the purchase price. Minutes to a cell phone are no different, you are going to pay that on 1,2 or no contract. ($249.99 / 24 months = $10.41 a month) Not too bad IMO:D

"what feature are you most excited about!!???"

Now that every moderator and Admin has chimed in, I would like to add one more thing: this thread idea is awesome! please start one ;)

I understand the complete agony of not hearing official announcement dates, and going absolutely bonkers not being able to have the phone I want in my hands. Its happened to me 8 times in the last year :p

Going to bump this thread up, because even after post launch its still very negative.

I for one love my thunderbolt. Yes the battery life sucks, but I am almost always near a phone charger, and plan on getting the Extended Battery until a fix is found. Other than that, I think this phone is close to perfection for the technology available.

People are more likely to complain than they are to compliment. Even Apple forums are frequently loaded with complaints (especially after a product release - iPhone 4 "death grip" as an example), but the company clearly has a lot of happy customers.

Hopefully mentioning Apple won't throw this too far off topic. It was just an example of a company that clearly has happy customers, but still has its share of complaints.

I'm seeing less complaints here than for a lot of other product launches I have followed. People expect perfection, but that doesn't exist. It is common for a few people to make a lot of noise about small issues.

Regarding the battery, of course a phone with a huge screen, new technology (4G), and lots of power isn't going to last as long on a charge as an old dumbphone with a tiny monochrome display that can only make phone calls and send the occasional text message.

100% correct... more people will post their complaints before they share anything positive. The positive people are too busy enjoying their TBolts..;)

However, you gotta love AC.. It's not just negativity and complaints... the members here are very friendly and go out of their way to assist others and share their positive experiences.

As much as negative feedback might not make some people happy, you can not expect everybody to be positive. That is the beauty of freedom of speech. If everybody didn't like 1 device except 1 person, that person can speak their mind about how much they love it and why. I'm happy you love your thunderbolt and mine should be here tomorrow (I can't wait). as long as people aren't breaking rules, there is no need for censorship. Everybody is entitled to freedom when expressing their opinion.

Every time a new device is launched there tends to be far more negatives than positives. Experienced users that know what they are doing do not bother to spend a whole lot of time raving about a new phone. After all it is a phone. Most of the negativity results from new users who do not bother to read pre-release information and worse refuse to read manuals or even search a forum to see if their problem has been discussed or resolved in another thread.

I am not sure why I am so lucky and hopefully not jinxing myself but I have owned Smartphones since the very first Treo and can honestly say i have never been disappointed in any of the 6 devices i have owned since that Treo other than two WinMobile devices that i should have known better but had compatibly issues with enterprise applications that i thought WinMobile would resolve (it did not). That includes a Storm 1 and most recently the Incredible that I had no intention of replacing anytime soon but had an upgrade available and a corporate discount that made the TB almost cost free. Was only really planning on keeping the TB for a week or two to play but that plan went south within the first day I owned it. My battery? Having properly set up my TB after 5 days of properly conditioning I am getting 12-14 hours with moderate to heavy use. Anyone who asks for more than that is just not realistic when it comes to hi-end smartphones. If you aren't getting that then you are a serious gamer, on 4G all day, living on YouTube or watching a lot of movies.

I wasn't here from the beginning of the introduction of the Thunderbolt in January but I can say for sure if you went back and read posts from then --> forward you would probably understand the mindset on this a little better. How and WHY the excitement went downhill. They WHY is very important.

Yes, there were a ton of negative posts but it also looks like you're not seeing the good people here that have been going out of their way to help us newbies to Android and the Thunderbolt.

I came from a Blackberry forum and I can tell you that although you may see a lot of negative comments here about the wait-time for the TB you ain't seen 'nuttin of how people were treated on the other boards and the mods there didn't do even half the job of what the mods do here to curtail the nasty comments and just downright hateful spiteful comments people made there.

I don't think it's fair for anyone to judge an entire forum board on one thread-theme and ignore everything else that is so good here. Look around some more, you'll find a very friendly community with help up the ying yang and very little of telling you to "go look it up on your own." People here just jump in and HELP, they don't get all hinky over the fact the answer has been posted elsewhere but the poster didn't find it or look for it or whatever.

Give it a chance here ... :)

There are 7,600 users online right now, and 10 of us. The spirit shall, and always be, in line with what I've written at the top of the forum rules:

Our primary goals include attracting new members, maintaining a friendly environment, keeping the forums organized, and ensuring AC remains the number one site for Android enthusiasts to turn to for news, discussions, and help regardless of skill level.

As long as I'm around, that's how we will continue to run the forums.

And every once in a while, I will throw up this sticky on a case-by-case basis.

I'll allow people to debate until they are blue in the face, but the second it goes personal, we will nip it.

If you took 2 tests and on one you got a 90 while the other was a 60, which would stand out the most? As much as we would all like to say the 90, we all know that isn't true.
