Access internal SD card after factory reset

Hi. My HTC M8 was misbehaving so I decided to factory reset. I have a SanDisk 128gb card installed which was formatted as internal memory which I used to store my photos, etc. I also used it to backup some app config files.

I removed the card and then did the factory reset.

I've got the phone working but it won't access the encrypted card. Only options it shows is to reformat the card (obvious not what I want to do).

How do I access the content?

When you reset the phone, the encryption key for the phone changed.
As a result, the data on the card encrypted with the old key is no longer readable. (Security precaution)
The data on the card is lost forever. You need to restore your data from a backup stored on your computer or the cloud.
