Accidentally wiped data and root

After installing Drod's 1.5gz kernel, I forgot to unchecked "wiped data before install" or something like that. So I lost everything except the 1.5Ghz kernel. Is there any way I can get my programs and root back or do I have to start from scratch again? (Hope not) :'(

That shouldn't have wiped actual root access out. Try installing the Superuser app on market.

Well, now root apps should work. Your recovery shouldn't have been changed.

All of your data and such from the phone (not SD card, though) has been wiped... so if it's not syncing and downloading your market apps, you'll have to manually redownload. Your contacts are saved with your Google account, so they should all be there.

But otherwise, you should be set. Test out an app that requires root access and let us know if it doesn't work :)

Thanx, man. I'll try it right now.

So, when you open Titanium Backup, Superuser doesn't pop up with the "allow" prompt?

Also, open the Superuser app and make sure it doesn't complain.

Alright, well open the Superuser app, reboot, and if that doesn't solve it then I guess you could try installing a ROM available around here. I don't see how wiping would have removed the su binary from your system partition, but I'm not entirely sure what is going on in your situation.

Got it fix. I just had to install busybox. Thank for the help though, bud. :D

Cool.

Make sure you make a proper backup in CWR so that if you accidentally wipe again you have an easier time getting it back up and running :)

Clockwork Recovery. It's the thing that your phone boots into when installing ROMs and such.

You can access it without Rom Manager by turning off the phone and then plugging it in (should boot up into recovery mode if it's installed) or by turning it off, holding the volume down and powering it up... then select "recovery" in the bootloader.

I have my ROM backed up before I installed Drod's 1.5 Ghz kernel. Should I restore to that to get my apps back again?

You certainly can, if that'd be more convenient for you. It will overwrite the kernel in the process, but you can just reinstall it (and uncheck the wipe data & cache, of course ;))

Ok, Imma try that right now, hopefully, I'll get my apps back again. LOLz

This is why I never use rom manager to flash anything. I just hit reboot into recovery and manually do it.
