[ACS][ROM] Phoenix ROM 0.2 & EXT Data

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2

Hey All - I just figured I'd let you all know that I just got a custom kernel to compile and load, and more importantly, RUN on our phones. I'll start playing with overclocking the phone and any other things we can now do. And I'll work with Firehak to get it into his next phoenix release (assuming he is willing to do so :))

Totally awesome!

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2

Yes - it is. We now have ext4 support built into the kernel - no longer need to load modules to do that. Not sure, but I imagine this may speed things up ever so slightly.

Of course I'm willing to do so ;)

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2

Quick heads up for you guys: I have to take a break for a few days and will be unable to flash/test anything for PhoeniX. My older brother has talked with 2 of 3 HR guys, managers, etc and is getting to the last HR guy tomorrow about getting me hired and I just submitted my application. I can't miss this call, it's an amazing opportunity as a kid who hasn't even earned my Associates degree yet. Especially with the possibility of them paying for my degree.

I'll keep coming back to answer questions and support for the rom in the meantime, but please wait patiently as I wait for an interview call. This job pays well enough for me to pay for school and even look at down payments on a house in just a few months of working. At 20 years old next month, I'd say that's something to be pretty proud of.

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2

Thanks! I was told that it most likely won't be, though there is still a possibility it could happen in the future. My position would actually be pretty simple from what my brother told me today. I'd basically deal with active directory requests and create/modify users for new hires. Not sure what else I'd be doing.

EDIT: To keep myself occupied since I can't keep rebooting to work on PhoeniX, I've taken up the task of reverse engineering system apk's and will test with emulators. Might as well get a jump start on version 0.3. It's about time we remove that lame sprint id button from the launcher ;)

awesome!!! When can we try?!

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2

We can try as soon as I make it do something interesting. As it stands now, all it does is add ext4 support native into the kernel. We can already view ext4 partitions based on the modules that are loaded at system start time, so no compelling reason to upgrade yet. When I get time, I'll try to add some performance and bat improvements, at which point I'll release something, and we can roll it into phoenix rom as well if that makes sense.

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2

can you guys please help me I am stuck at this step "Click start, and hold U on your phone as soon as it reboots to enter recovery mode (CWM5)" each time I click start it say "please connect phones !!" what I am doing wrong ?

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2

What says "Please connect phones" If you are trying to reboot into recovery, then nothing should say that. If you are talking about ODIN, recovery mode has nothing to do with odin.

To get into recovery, while the phone is off, press and hold the "U". Then, while still holding the "U", also press and hold power until the phone turns on. Then release both power and U. The phone will boot into recovery.

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2

ya sorry I am getting this when I click start in Odin so should I leave the phone on or off when I try to do this step

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2

You really need to better describe what you are doing. If you are trying to get into recovery mode, then you don't do anything with odin. If you are trying to flash with odin, then u need to hold down p and space while hitting power to power up phone. If odin never detects your phone when it is on and connected via usb, u have a driver or usb issue.

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2

Hey I forgot to ask everybody that wants Ext to SD.. Has anyone tried the App Link2SD? It allows you to move apps to SD that other wise normally wouldn't be able to without ROOT. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now with PhoeniX ROM and it works very well.

I would note, however, that you should try to keep around 20 + MB free on your internal Memory free before you try moving full apps from Internal Storage to the SD using this app, otherwise (in my usage anyway) the app will just give errors that there is insufficient storage or something like that.

I'm not gutsy enough to move apps to SD that I surely know need to run from Internal, but for instance, I'm running Facebook from SD - where I normally couldn't before.

Got a link?? Id like the run facebook from sd. Can it be moved with Titanium with the same results? Id like to move CutTheRope also. Its 10 mgs..lol

Edit: got it. Trying it now.

Edit 2: got it working. Selected ext4 on first open, restarted then moved a few apps. Facebook, cut the rope, imgur and a couple more big ones. They all work and have saved me about 15 megs. Thanks man.

Any help for system apps??

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2

Update:
Installed Like2SD and set ext4 one startup and rebooted.

No errors since install. Moved the biggest apps I have by sorting by size of all. Here's a screen shot as well. Quick question, what's the difference between linking the files and just moving them? I linked em first but still had to move em back to SD. And if I linked em after I moved em to SD I would have to re move em. Normal?

Moved:
Facebook
Dolphin Browser
Cut The Rope

Also moved 10 more smaller apps, but in all I've saved around 45megs. Went up to 90 free. Pretty cool. If we can get system apps to move then we'de be good. Lol

Will post back with updates and full list of all apps/locations

Edit: Got some more free space. Uninstalled some system apps with Titanium and linked some more from my internal storage.

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2

Got more freespace with the app. I've been experimenting with moving the apps as to linking the apps. I'm getting more space with linking and the stability is amazing. The quick reboot with the app is slow sometimes, but with patience, everything works itself out.

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2

Holy cow. No, Thank you for sharing the Apps you've moved! This is great. I can put Cut The Rope back on my Wife's phone - she loved that game. Knowledge is power - This forum has turned this Originally WEAK phone into a powerhouse! :=D
