Adjustments, tips and tricks to maximize Battery Life on Samsung Galaxy S6/edge

With 5.1.1 update my battery life has definitely increased, specifically when on standby. Besides quick charging and wireless charging, here's why I don't panic about battery on the go. I over prepare lol.

So my best tip, get a good battery bank or a few ☺

I'm STILL waiting for my battery charger case after the company sent me the case for the edge instead of the regular s6. I returned it on Monday and still waiting to hear back from them

My battery has gone up to about 5 1/2 screen time on average, I guess that's good enough.

I say good enough because at one point I was averaging like 6 1/2.

The inconsistency in the battery is the only thing I hate about the battery on this phone. Like sometimes it will drain at 16% per hour doing absolutely nothing as above. Then other times only 11-12% going flat out. Like wtf. Other than that I love it but it's really frustrating

I agree with you, the battery on this phone is so inconsistent.

only inconsistent for some, not all. my battery as well as many many others here on the forum seems to be very consistent in a good way every day. that is the real mystery.

I'm lucky in that I have great cell service, so my battery results are almost always the same.

I was going to post just the same, but I just read this now, so no need to repeat it.

People, not ALL phones are working great and not ALL phones are having your issues, so please don't generalize. As you can see, razza is one of those that have very inconsistent battery life, like I posted above, I'm positively sure it's cell signal related, I've advised him/her to try putting the phone in Airplane Mode and then turn on just Wifi and test for a couple of hours, that will give all of us an idea if it's what i think it is. If it's related to Cell signal then the only option he/she and others with similar issues may have is to demand from your carriers something to help with it. In the States T-Mobile is providing a device free of cost to people with bad signal at home, if you are a T-Mobile subscriber, ask for it, if you have other carrier, talk to them to see if they have something similar.

By just changing my theme to a basically all around Black one (Weyo) and changing my Wallpaper to a 90% black one (Just switched to Dolphin Browser on Thursday, that's the only other thing different in the past couple of days) my SoT has increased considerably today, the first full day with the new changes.

As you can see below I'm averaging 7 hours of SoT today, I'm at home today (Independence day observance) but my stats today has been better than the ones I've been getting over the weekends with basically same exact usage, tons of emails, dozens of articles read on Google Play magazine, a couple of youtube videos, and a couple of hours browsing this and other forums.

Wow, I just started using that theme today. It's great, and yes, mostly black background does help with battery.

I might not keep it because it's a bit too bland. But it's nice for battery savings.

If you measure battery usage by SOT then I get horrible usage when I frequently use the phone in short bursts during weekday usage at work. On weekdays it's not uncommon for me to see 80 to 90 minutes of SOT and my battery at 40 percent.

But on weekends when I use the phone for longer periods at a time I can see SOT of 3 hours with battery at 40 percent. The phone doesn't seem to like constantly being turned on and off throughout the day.

Easy, everyone uses their phones differently. Those that use a lot of Google services that require sync tend to be at a disadvantage with the smaller battery . Those that use their phone mostly to browse the Web, play videos, while disabling most features etc on a dim screen will get excellent battery life.

Then there are others like me who use a lot of Google Sync Services for my 2 Google account syncing hundreds of emails a day (work and personal) and also get great battery life, just by turning off Google services or apps that I don't need or will ever use like Google Play Books, Games, Music, Google+ and the usual Samsung redundant bloatwares.

We can agree that I'm using a dim screen as I've been using the same brightness in all my phones for years now, I simply can't tolerate anything brighter now unless I'm outside, so I have my phone at around 15-20% indoors and in Auto while outdoors.

That, plus the tweaks I've always done to my phones and been posting in this thread for the past two and a half months, get me the results you are seeing here, nothing missed, no needed features disabled, no crippling, everything I'll ever need and use is turned on or at a Quick toggle reach to turn it on and off after I finish using it. I even have Location on 24x7 now, just on Power saver mode (wifi and cell only) and Location History off until Google separate Location Reporting from History again.

Are there any browsers with a dark background? All the browsers I've downloaded seem to have only the white background

After reading this I decided to give this theme a try, even 1 extra hour of SoT would be amazing! 😄

How was it in comparison to the black and white Nova theme?

I'm not using Nova Themes, I'm just using Icon Packs with Nova but changing the Theme in TouchWiz so I have, dialer, settings menu, contacts and notification shade themed but with the Nova in the front.

By the way, did you check what I told you about the signal, what was your cell signal value? Did you try what I suggested about using airplane mode and then turning on wifi?

I did and it didn't make much difference. Then again my WiFi is also currently slowed to only 64kbps until the next billing cycle. Though I was talking about the black and white theme that come built into the Nova launcher itself.

Would it be possible for you to post the wallpaper that you are using on here?

I'm using Dolphin browser, it has incorporated a night mode that switches all pages to dark background and white fonts to contrast, shocking at first but you get used to, for me is perfect for when my wife is sleeping and I'm at the bed reading through the forums.
