Adjustments, tips and tricks to maximize Battery Life on Samsung Galaxy S6/edge

Wow Outlook is using up a lot of battery... My next full charge I'm going to add it to my list of auto stop apps and see if it makes a difference

A suggestion for those on 5.1.1. Use Fast instead of Facebook and Carbon instead of Twitter. That's what I'm doing. Both can be autostopped after ten minutes in the battery settings unlike twitter and Facebook

Sorry if this has been addressed already. Is anyone have an issue with their android system and android os using most of their battery life?

So I just came across this. This could be the wifi draining bug. Why does Google services need to pull almost 4gb of background data while on wifi.

Can I wipe cache and it does not wipe out my pics or contacts etc? I'm assuming no but thinking that it seems a lot of you are talking about doing this with a brand new phone, which I have but they ported all my pics and contacts etc over to it so just don't want to do anything to it that will wipe it out. Sorry for my ignorance. Thank you!

As long as you back up everything, there should be no issue clearing the cache partition.

This has been a very helpful thread! My first day with the S6 I came home with my battery at 65%. I made most of the changes in the first thread but I refuse to get rid of my ocean live wallpaper, LOL. Today I came home with my battery at 73%. (My s5 would be lucky to make it home alive.) Thank you erasat for taking the time to put all that info together!

Wiping the Cache Partition doesn't delete any of your files and settings, you won't notice any difference at all. BUT, it's always good practice to have a good backup of your device.

You're welcome.

Thank you so much. That is good to know because my pics and contacts are all in the cloud, I guess, I do have several songs and preachers sermons and different speeches that I've purchased on my phone and I don't think I can back those up. They are things that I've went to....say a preachers web page, and purchased a sermon and downloaded it so I can't get it anywhere else like my Kindle books etc. I too thank you for all your time spent typing that and helping us. I might have to give this a try.

Thanks for your reply! I don't think I can back up some things I have purchased from separate websites. Like an example, I go to my favorite preachers website and purchase a sermon to download and now it's on my phone. I have several of them and some songs from websites also so I don't know. I'm just nervous to lose them but erasat said it should be ok.

If you do just the Wipe Cache Partition there is nothing to be afraid of, it just deletes all the OS "garbage" that it keeps collecting, this are OS files that are there to help the OS to be more efficient and fast, but sometimes there are "corrupted" files also that affects the phone. By doing this you are just deleting them and the next time it boots it begins to recreate all of them again .

FYI, the only option that deletes all the files and settings is the Wipe data/Full reset, so just be aware of that.

No problem here. International Version, latest 5.1.1.
I'm a business user so for me, this phone works great.

Erasat I can't find Weyo in the theme store. Did they remove it? If so -___- I need a theme that makes my settings menus black instead of white
