Advice on a Factory Reset with an old LG G4 on Verizon

My old LG G4 hasn't been reset in a while, and is in need of some serious cleaning up. The LG Backup feature no longer works so looks like a reset without a safety net, other than all my photos are securely saved on the SD card. The one thing I pay extra for on Verizon though, is text Message backup, as I can't afford to lose my texts. But even with that, the last time I did a Reset, I somehow still lost around 20% of my messages. Any suggestions on ensuring I don't have that happen again, or general tips of a Factory reset? Thanks!

I would explore some of the third party text backup apps that send them to your gmail for storage. For the SD card, make sure to remove it prior to the reset. At least twice I've reset a phone and it also reformatted the SD card, which isn't supposed to happen. For apps, I would make a list of what you have or want to keep, so you can reference it after the reset. If there are any important ones, ones you are wanting to keep at a specific version, or think may no longer be in the Play store, I would back them up with something like APK Extractor so you can re-install later without worry.

Thanks Mooncatt! I always take my SD card out before the reset, to be extra sure. Re-installing apps from the Play Store is also no biggie. Some personal settings are tedious, but what's a good text backup that works in real time?

If I may suggest, if the SD card is the only source of backup for your photos you might want to consider a secondary backup. Maybe copy them to a PC. SD cards can fail at any given time....

Thank you for the advice on backing up my SD card, you can never be 100% certain of anything digital!. My Outlook account is set to back up my photos, and I usually transfer important ones to my PC soon after they're taken.
