After using the phone for a week...

Yeah I guess, I just value replying through the notifications and being able to to see pictures people send me through whatsapp and mark messages as read all within the notification is important for me.
And that I will agree with. My replies are probably more based on Android vs IOS comparison. I love the phone, and the nuances that go with it... Or I would not have bought it less than a month after buying my Xs Max. That in itself should make a statement

I’ll get a lot of hate for this but, the Pixel 3 XL and Android Pie on it sucks. I’m not a fanboy of one phone or another, I have an iPhone XS Max a Note 9 and the Pixel 3 XL. I’m probably going to be returning it. Now I can’t speak for the regular 3 which I think is the one to get after using this. I think people need to stop giving google a pass and say it how it really is.

-Ram management is awful
-The notch, I just can’t get over it and turning it off gives me a screen the size of the regular
-These guestures, WTF were you thinking google? They suck, enjoyable on the iPhone so I was happy about it till I tired it on the pixel.
-Apps don’t even look right with the notch turned on. Now I know this is more up to the developer of the app.
-Battery life is horrendous, where’s this Android Pie built in battery management stuff google was talking about?
-Phone doesn’t feel anywhere as premium as iPhones or the Galaxy Note 9. Not sure where the hell the reviewers are getting this whole, the hardware feels so premium crap. Hold and iPhone then hold a Pixel...
-The recent apps is done so bad
-Screen is just not bright enough, it’s 2018 Google.
-The audio when recording a video sounds like ****.
-Other bugs here and there

What is good:
-The Camera
-The feel of the back of the device is nice.
I do love that they finally changed the way the notification pop ups look in Pie.
-Phone is silky smooth
-Wireless charging finally
-Speakers (although I still think the iPhones speakers just sound better, might not get as loud as the Pixel but they sound better to me.

All those cons for a $1000 phone!

Pixel stands make the Pixel experience even better.

Only possible because Google dropped the metal body with plastic feeling coating. Very glad they did and don't doubt the wireless charger only enhances the experience.

The learning curve with Android is HUGE.

I agree with that, and the new Android 9 pie navigation buttons/gestures is even more confusing, slower and unintuitive than the previous 3 button setup. I got my girlfriend to use my Pixel 2 XL to see how she'd like the user interface. She never consistently managed to swipe up to pull up the app drawer, instead she (as do I) constantly get the multitasker rather than the app drawer and I don't think she ever know what was going on when she was swiping the pill across. It's not user friendly and does require a lot more learning for no real benefit.

I actually start to like the app drawer more now. I noticed most of the time, when I first pull up the drawer, one of the 5 apps there is the one that I need. If it's not, I just pull it up again and get to the app drawer. It did take some time to get used too, but after a week using it, I really like it.one of the reason I'm sticking with the stock launcher rather than Nova.

I agree. The recent apps acreen is the most effecient area in the entire system. Single flick up and you're at the absolute best launching point for whatever your next action may be. I completely get why people are still stuck on the the three button system, but 9.0 on the Pixel 3 is so much more powerful than the past approach.

I think that Assistant is underutilized as well. The absolute core of everything Google is building has Assistant at the center. One would think that if manufactuer is telling you directly that's the center of their UX, people users might be be able to have a better experience than just running apps.

As an example, I had GA "get me a ride to the airport" and it brought up the map and quotes from both Lyft and Uber with price estimates and expected pick up times for both. I picked a service and that opened a confirmation page with everything already populated. Literally, one ask and two taps and I was on my way. Compare that to doing it the traditional way. I have to open both apps, I have to fill out my ride info on both apps just to get the quotes, then go back to whichever service I decided on to complete my transaction.

Now GA is on a lot of devices, but native to only a few and none of those are better than the Pixel. The device is about results in an effecient and intelligent way. That may escape some people and their approach to tech, but it's an incredible package, IMO.

This is very true for me, although I never owned a pixel my last android was a 6P which was closest at the time. The google integration with android was so impressive for the time, I really enjoy google now and the whole system. I came to iOS and really felt that missing, downloading and using google just wasn’t the same as my Nexus so I deleted all my google apps (except for photos).

I am so excited to get my P3 Thursday and have native google again, Siri was by far the most underwhelming part of iOS.

I agree with all points. I would also add that 4GB of RAM and 128GB for max storage aren't nearly enough in 2018 with Android. Google may think Android Pie is optimized for its device, but next year when Q comes out, the 4GB of RAM may not be enough to run it fluidly. As with the storage, I have a 512GB iPhone Xs Max and I have over 300GB of data on it.

But if I were strictly out to purchase an Android phone, the only one I would consider today would be the Pixel 3/3 XL. The fast and timely software updates combined with the camera's capabilities are the selling points of the device.

My question is, How much would it of cost Google to put 6 gb RAM, 128gb storage
4000 Ah battery.
A Led for people to visually see and the phone about 1/4 " taller.
Maybe just a little thicker.
Make a few more colors.
Like chartreuse green. Red. Purple.
Camo.
Bout 35.00
Bet with what all that would be offered.
More people be would of been beating the doors down for one.
And they could of got 100.00 more.

Really.

About how much have they spent on advertising.

Regarding the Notifications... Seems like after I swipe similar ones away a couple times, I'm asked if I want to keep seeing a notification for this or for that - and I can turn them off in that notice or tell it to keep sending them. Seems easy enough to manage.

Well after 10 days I'm back on my s9.
The recent app switching just won't work reliably for me .
Other than that it has to reload things like the dialer app sometimes. Nothing that's a deal breaker but there's nothing about the phone that's really head and shoulders above my s9 other than the camera .
I'm debating putting it in the drawer for a back up or just getting my money back .

S9 is a great device ,but if u going put the other in a drawer just return it get your money back .

After a week and a half I have to say this phone is perfect for my use, best phone ever. Took the couple of things that kind bugged me about the XL 2 and got rid of them.

No phone is worth 1000.00 but it's at this point and if we want them we got to pay .

It is what it is I agree. I mean I've still got my note 4 and it would handle everything I need.

But phones are a hobby for me so bring on the s10 !

I had a Pixel then a Pixel 2 XL and now I have a Pixel 3 XL and I have to say this is a great phone IMO.

Immediately, I just want to say that the whole upgrade process was SO much better this year than last. They clearly had much more inventory and the wait time for phones was much shorter. My phone actually showed up a week early. The trade in of my old phone was much better too. The packaging was much improved to send the phone and the processing of the trade in was far faster as well. Plus, connecting the phones with the provided cable during setup copied just about everything over from my old phone including where the apps were placed.

The phone itself is great too. To me, it feels a bit sturdier in my hand than the previous Pixels although it's quite slippery. I had thought about skipping the case this time but that would definitely be a bad idea with this phone. The camera is a nice improvement over the previous generation and it's about time Google added wireless charging to this phone. I had it way back on my old Samsung GS5 and even the iPhone got it last year. Generally, the phone is fast and smooth. I enjoy some of the new animations in the software and the call screening is a very cool feature. Not quite the leap forward I had hoped this phone would be but definitely a nice step ahead.

I am so happy with my 3XL, as I was with my 2XL and Nexus 6 before them. I love every feature but I am so blown away by how awesome the camera is. Just amazing.

I upgraded from the OG XL. The more I use the camera, the more impressed I am.

You left out timely security and OS updates.
Security/OS updates and camera are the two that would be deal breakers for me.
