AKG heaphones are not good

In fairness they won't be "free" when they are pack of the phone package. Got to add that I also found them worse than the headphones that ship with the iPhone right now.

Though I've been spoilt with bose ones.

For me I think they are better than the ones that came with my iphone 7+. Plus I can use them in any phone with a headphone jack :-) Heck....I used them in my Surface Book last night.

Compared to my ostry buds, the included headphones have a muddy low end and crappy highs. I rate them comparable to an average $30 set.

They're good, and better than the ones that we got last year. Obviously if you're used to great audio they may suffer by comparison. But by no means are they bad.

Best included ear buds I've had thus far. From an audio perspective they are damn near as good as my Audio Technica ATH M30s. Sound is balanced and clear. More of a neutral sound tone which is what I prefer (I normally use studio monitor headphones). I don't know about the pack ins with the s7. I still got the buds from my s3, wife's s4 and my note 4. The AKG buds are clearly superior.

I'd think by now anybody reading this thread has reached the conclusion that sound quality is very subjective. :)

I'm not having any problems with my AKGs. I like them better than the old white ones they use to provide. On the old ones the rubber tips always fell off.

We have officially reached the bottom of the barrel with ways to complain when we start complaining that the freebies that Samsung includes are not as good as what you could spend a hundred bucks for. :)

It's a person's right to critique something especially when you have experienced better. So keep your critique of my critique to yourself please.

Sound is always subjective. Though in reply to above, I bought 30 dollar and 50 dollar buds. One was Sony brand, another was the Apple airpods. These AKGs are much better than both. Low end is fairly tight. Detail in the music is not drowned out and clearly discernable. My only slight gripe is the high tones are perhaps a little too "bright". But I managed to help that out with some simple EQ tweaks. I find that enabling the UHQ setting actually makes the highs sound slightly worse to me. A little more harsh but sonic detail is easier to hear. I ended up leaving it off.

They don't have to complain like I'm not thankful for something that is sub par to me. I have the other ones that are so much better. If I didn't have something to compare it to then yeah ...No reason to say anything.

Re: What brand are the AKG headphones?

I mean what model lol
Actually, Byron is right. Like the Beats Audio in the old HTC phones. The speakers weren't actually made by Beats; it was just their tuning/equalization.

I don't think there's a model, per se, but listing them as "the AKG-branded earphones included with the Samsung Galaxy S8" would be the most accurate.

Re: What brand are the AKG headphones?

I believe Samsung acquired Harmon kardon and that's who makes akg.
