All about Incredible batteries (Replacements, Charging..ect)

I keep hoping to see good battery results on the Incredible before considering a change from my Droid. So far it's not looking encouraging for me. I wonder why HTC seems to have such problems with battery life?

I am getting as good battery life on my incredible as I was on my droid before they updated to 2.1 official..

I hope to hear this from many folks. Right now I get an 18 hour day without a problem and if I use the navigation a ton I might need to give it a quick charge in the car just to be safe. I wouldn't mind buying an extended battery if I get the Incredible, but I just like knowing I can get through a long day without having to charge if I can't. Thanks for the promising info.

Initial Battery Charge

Is it necessary to charge the battery with the phone off right out of the box? I mean, can I plug it in and start playing with it as soon as I get it (come on FedEx - get here already - longest morning EVER!)?

If anyone feels like it, I'd love to hear if you did/didn't do the initial charge and what your battery life is like now. Thanks in advance!

I did let it charge for about 4 hours until it was fully charged and my battery is fine

I would definitely charge it completely before playing. There is some discussion about this under the sticky thread about battery issues/problems. For those who fully charged, it seems that they don't have as many problems with battery charge.

People have claimed that both ways are OK. I didn't fully charge, unfortunately, but at this point I wish I had.

I look at it this way: it's better to stay on the safe side and charge fully before using instead of playing with it while charging. Even if there's no benefit, you haven't lost anything. But, if it IS better to charge fully first, then you've saved yourself some worries later.

Thanks for the replies, even if they weren't what I wanted to hear. I've been waiting for this phone since it was called the "Passion," and it just got delivered to me. I want to turn this thing on and play with it so bad I can't even begin to explain!

I also have my battery coming. I'm surprised how fast this thing drains...a heavy user and I'm glad I have a car charger. My best guess, if I didn't put it on the car charger all the time, I would be "out" by 2pm. Maybe I'll give it a try.

Again, it's the price we pay for the technology and speed that the latest phones have built-in.

Well, this is looking better. I pulled my phone off the charger at 9:30AM. It is now 2:00PM (4.5 hours later), and it is still at 60%.

Looking at those other topics, it sounds like rooting the incredible might help with the battery life?!?!?!

Does anyone know how close anyone is coming to rooting this phone?

My Incredible has currently been unplugged for 28hrs with 9% battery left. Now thats with 3G turned off for 85% of the time - so very little internet browsing and app usage - and brightness at 0%. Tomorrow I'm going to see how long it lasts with 3G turned on and auto brightness.

check out my previous post, and to update that post. GF's phone has been off charger for 40 hours and its at 71%, awake time of an hour. Android Operating system still at 95% of battery usage. (Stock Battery) So if you think you can only get 13 hours of standby, i would say your settings are way jacked or your phone is defective.

must not do anything on it.. mines toast in about 3 hours of usage and 10 hours standby hoping an update will fix this and half the time i dont have much running at all
