All about Incredible batteries (Replacements, Charging..ect)

I wouldn't bother with a replacement battery unless it's 3500 mAh or higher. Hopefully this battery will be available soon.

I do see it on their site with a status of "coming soon". Bookmarked it and will probably spring for it when it's released. Hopefully they didn't exaggerate the mAh on this battery.

Hey Everyone, got my second set of stats (took these on the evening of May 7th - Friday) with the stock battery. Though not as impressive (I was playing robo-defense for an hour at the barber shop today) the picture is still almost the same:

UpTime: 9:53:00
AwakeTime: 4:27:48
Battery %: 8%
Wifi: Off
GPS: Off
Bluetooth: Off
Always on Mobile data: On
Sync: Weather widget every 3 hrs and push on Exchange

android sys 26%
voice calls 24%
cell standby 20%
phone idle 14%
display 8%
Robo Defense Free 3%
Dialer 3%
Mediaserver 2%

UnPlugged time: 9:43:26

So, I did a lot more talking today on the phone (like almost 2 hours) and more robo-defense than normal. The battery took a SERIOUS hit as a result. In comparison to my first night, I got nearly 2 and a half hours more awake time than I did tonight. But I wasn't using the phone as heavily.

Hope this helps the data!

More stats for the peoples!

Hey Everyone,

Got another set of stats with the stock battery. These were taken on May 9th - (this past Sunday). Again, not so impressive as my nephew got a hold of Super KO Boxing 2 on my Incredible and was playing it for about 15 minutes! Look what happened when he did that!

UpTime: 11:35:25
AwakeTime: 3:57:48
Battery %: 14%
Wifi: Off
GPS: On (Used for about 10 minutes)
Bluetooth: Off
Always on Mobile data: On
Sync: Weather widget every 3 hrs and push on Exchange

Super KO Boxing 2 91%
cell standby 3%
android sys 2%
phone idle 2%
Dialer 2%

UnPlugged time: 11:27:22 (Moderate usage after gameplaying allowed it to last all day)

So, high quality games or ones with intense graphics and high responsiveness from the touch screen DESTROY the battery on this phone! It went from like 60% to about 45% in the 15 mins he was playing it! Yowza!! Yet, I want more high quality games on the Android platform!

Time to get to optimizing intense graphics and games Google!!

Hope this helps the data! :D

My last report for now. After almost 3.5 hours of constant scanner radio, the battery died. This was after being listed at approximently 70%. I wasn't able to see the about phone info, as the battery literally died on me - I was ignoring the beeps hoping it would make it past lunch.

At any rate, I am charging yet again, this time with the phone off, from my laptop usb. I'm interested to see if its any faster or shorter. It started with a slowly flashing red led that has quickly progressed to solid red, so i assume it was pretty well discharged.

I'll also be interested if battery life improves anymore or not. The reason I left the phone on last time while charging was to see if there was a drastic difference from having it off, as been discussed in another thread. 3 hours of scanner radio streaming (from 70% battery left) seems a pretty decent indicator that charging while off vs while on isn't making that big a difference, but I beleive this is also an indicator that initially charging the phone while off has somehow recalibrated the battery.

My next steps will be to try the battery left app, and see what info I can glean from there.

Dumb question for the mods, but is there a reason this moved from the Incredible forum to the apps forum?

Seems more appropiate in the incredible forum.

lol. probably just a 'clerical' error. please move it back to the Inc dungeon! :)

After reading reviews about the Incredible's shortness of battery length, I ordered a Seideo battery from an online store. Even though this Seideo battery has more power than the one that accompanies the phone itself, it fits perfectly into the Incredible's battery slot and doesn't need a new rear door.

After my Incredible arrived, I read the instructions about charging my battery very carefully. After following the instructions to the letter, I only got 1 to 1 1/2 hours per charge. I've tried it with and without the App Killer and get similar results. With the Seideo battery that I bought as a back up, I get a full day of use out of the phone. The difference is dramatic. Did I get a lemon of a battery with the Incredible? I don't know.

Well to continue the discussion on hand. Yesterday I charged the phone with it off via my USB on my laptop after it was completely dead...ie would not turn on. It took about 4 hours exactly to complete, which was slightly quicker than with it on.

One thing to note after turning it back on....I had the crazy homescreen issue, where the homescreen was just scrolling around on its on. I have no idea what caused this, but I can only surmize that it had something to do with draining the battery completely dead. My suggestion is not to do this too often lol. I did a G-sensor calibration and the issue has not returned so far.

I haven't done much since yesterday. Made a couple calls checked some emails, downloaded and installed a battery widget - Battery Left, which seems pretty impressive in the details so fair. Currently I am at 81% left of battery life.

I had two interesting observations yesterday. First, I exchanged my 1st Incredible at Best Buy because I couldn't get more than 6 hours out of my batt and it constantly rebooted. The funny thing was when I got the original phone it didn't come with the 2gb sd card. The new replacement did, but the really odd thing was the weight of the new phone was significantly heavier. I read something about first release phones had bad batts. Maybe the original batts weren't as advertised. Is it possible that they were miss labeled or built wrong? I couldn't compare the battery weights, but with the two phones in my hands it was a significant difference. Thoughts anybody?

Probably just placebo effect. Did you open it up and see what milliamp rating the battery in the new phone has? Maybe they are starting to ship with larger or different batterys?

It was the same p/n. The whole phone/battery combo was definitely heavier with the new phone. I tried swapping phone combos in my hands and picking them up one at a time in each hand. I thought it may be the same thing, but something had changed. I'd swear the new battery was heavier. 24 hours into it and I'm already getting better results. I think their was a mix up with the original batteries and were mislabeled. If anyone else swaps phones try to pay attention to the weight of the phone/battery combo between the new and old. :) Stranger things have happened...

1. Why did they move this thread to apps?????? I lost you all there for a while.

2. After reading all 38 pages, I'm giving all here OPEN SEASON on me for this opinion/solution I think will work for me. Any and all comers can poke holes, take swings or support the solution I have decided on:

I am going to buy the wall charger and two batteries off the above eBay site for $16. This will give me a total of 15hrs under heavy use and 24 under moderate use. I will carry 2 fully charged batterys at all times and leave the house in am w/ DI fully charged. Main reason I am doing this is I am not able to plug in anywhere for as much as 24hrs while on duty and frequently am in rural remote locations. The time ranges I gave above are based on my avg findings form owning and running the DI for 12days now and get 5-8hrs w/ mod to heavy use and fairly conservative settings. It's also a cheap solution that if the batteries turn out to be crap, get me a dual charging solution for any battery I may end up w/ in the future.

There it is. Flame away or tell me what is good about it.

Flame on!!! :D

No, just wanted to say...if you're on duty for 24 hours & expect only 15 hours with heavy use, why not buy more of these cheap batteries so that - if you have an emergency and need to use the phone heavily for 24 hours - you'll be covered?

I second that! :D I ordered those batteries two weeks ago and I still haven't seen them. Good Luck with your order! Don't forget to get a holster for all those batteries. They're gonna get heavy! lol

Are you a police officer? Don't they have cigarette lighter jacks in the car, can't you plug into one of those while "on duty"? Plus if you are in rural locations, and you phone switches to roaming...its probably going to cruise through the battery pretty quick.

I was just thinking it would be easier to have it plugged in the car than hauling a bunch of batterys around.

I'll say it again, mods, why is this thread NOT in the incredible forum?

Pingpong:

i may get more. like to see how these first 2 do once fully charged and broken in. Didnt realize it would take super long to arrive. thanks for the heads up. Please do post your findings when the cheaper batteries come in.
