Thank you for all the time and effort you have put into this. Verizon Thunderbolt is my first experience with smart phone world. Fortunately from all of the information i was getting from the AC podcast, i was able to get the unlimited data plan before the tiers were begun. After getting the phone i was always very interested in the benefits rooting offered but was unsure of my capabilities to avoid the dreaded BRICK scenario. So here here i am a year and more later attempting the process...

I am stuck at "Waiting for device to connect"
Please advise me
P.S. How do i properly exit the program? i could not find File menu....
I have had a blast reading all the information about this stuff actually trying it is stimulating, thanks

No definitely won't brick because of that. Are you copying only the key?

Going out to the R shack to get another USB cable, the one i have seems skidish... phone drives show up on the PC mycomputer and are accessible but one end of the connecter is loose... charge light, connection mode also function

So I'm giving this a whirl now. I unzipped to my desktop, read the READ ME and uninstalled HTC Sync (still have HTC Driver Installer and HTC BMP USB Driver installed though. Let me know if they need to go), clicked on Driver.exe from my desktop and it said it might not have been installed correctly. I said that it was and nothing has happened. What do you suggest? I have redownloaded the tool from the link above, replaced all files on my desktop and attempted again to no avail. Stay awake and USB debugging are enabled.

Thanks!

Disregard. I read through the thread and didn't realize I needed to click the batch file after driver.exe.

I am at my splash screen now awaiting a reboot to see if root was successful.... and in typing this, it is finishing up now.....

Root successful it seems. Superuser was in my list of apps. Using MyBackup or whatever it's called to back up everything now. Very easy tool.... let's see the rest of the process hahaha

I'm backing up now but I have instructions on what to do before flashing a ROM and it says to transfer Superwipe to the SD root. Did it get included in the root tool ala Superuser??

Considering your familiarity and the awesome tool you provided to everyone, I'll take your word for it :)

Haha thanks!
I have honestly never used it, but if you have problems just wipe 3 times and reflash rom

Arrrgh!!!! It figures I'm the only loser having a problem.. I'm still getting the "Invalid Beta Key... Aborting " msg... I'm copying and pasting like the instructions say. What gives? Thanks for your help.

What's up Mookie? Glad to see you finally decided to take the plunge! Trter is right; you don't have to flash superwipe. I do it, but only cause I think it's faster and easier. Here's the link:

Superwipe - mecha centre

Just download it, put it on the root of your sd, and then flash it from recovery before you flash a ROM.
