All signs point towards an imminent release..BUT!

I'm sorely tempted to just pick up a Thunderbolt. I'm currently without any phone at all as I broke my Incredible and I'm in bad shape. I really hope this drops on August 4th.

I'll be buying this through my girlfriends dad's corporate verizon account. Anyone have any idea what kind of return policy they might have?

Pick up the Charge if you want a 4G phone, best reviewed of all of them.

No good journalist (and I'm not saying Kellex is a good journalist necessarily) will do anything to jeopardize the identity of a source, at least not if they want to continue getting information. The question is: Do you believe that Kellex has GOOD sources inside of Motorola or Verizon? If not, than you can choose not to believe the information.

I find it interesting that any leaks that point to a later date are readily dis-believed or people cry for "sources" or "pic or it ain't so". Earlier release dates tend to be showered with praise with no cries for scrutiny.

Will 3 weeks really cause that much of a hardship for anyone??

+1

I really think Moto missed the boat on this one!

VZWSupport just tweeted that the SG II will have LTE. If this thing drops before the Bionic, its all over for Moto.

Problem is we haven't seen a single leak of the GS2 for Verizon, making me believe it will release after the Bionic.

The rep was confused. They just tweeted that they meant the Galaxy Tab and NOT the SII. They say they have no info on the SII. Damn! :(

Well sort of. There is good info it's dropping stateside in August, Samsung has sent out their little marketing package's (the telescope thing) to select tech sites and pics of the device in the wild (even though other carrriers)

Now none of this points to Verizon being the first to release nor does it point to any of the other carriers. It only proves a looming release somewhere and sometime in the VERY near future. It won't be September that I can say. Verizon will not sit on this device that long. It's swept across the UK like a typhoon. You don't sit on the hottest Android handset to ever hit the market.

No, you certainly don't SIT on something like that. However, you also, hopefully, don't release a phone before it is ready either...

CK, this is Verizon we're talking about! :)

I can already feel the disappointment creeping in. A month ago this was all awesome, now it's all old hat. Two other carriers already have essentially the same phone, the GS2 is peeking around the corner and the nexus prime is teasing me.

Maybe it'll have something new but the amount of money they will charge for cutting edge technology from January is making less and less excited.

The iphone 5 WILL Delay the SGS II Just like it did with the Thunderbolt. At least a month or two. But I will give you credit since been correct thus far about the Bionic being released September. Verizon/Moto may of just shot them self’s in the foot because of that. Way too many good phones coming out year end and with the "Nexus Prime" the Bionic will be old news within 2 months after being released. Finally Verizon has jumped on the ban wagon with the other 3 carriers.

Actually I just read the other day on here or droidlife a direct quote saying VZW will probably be the first carrier to release the GSII. If it hits before the bionic and is LTE then moto is fubar'd.

Yep. The Bionic and Gal S 2 are fast approaching the Apple "wall". The closer the release dates get to Apple's mid September (probable) iPhone launch the more likely those weighing a jump to the darkside may just say screw it and a wait a few more weeks.

Bionic's "delay" and lack of any tangible info has me moving towards the fence. I'm to a point that the first slam dunk info or leak, between Bionic and Gal S2, gets my purchase. Even if the Sammy is a week or 2 beyond Bionic.

I personally think the iPhone "affect" is being grossly overstated. There will be some people that are "on the fence" about whether their next phone is an Android phone like Bionic or the next iPhone. These people are more likely to wait since the Bionic appears to have a launch date very close to the next iPhone at this point.

That being said, I think the vast majority of tech savvy users have already made up their mind which way they are going. Anyone that bought into Android because VZW didn't have the iPhone was waiting, regardless of the when Bionic launched. Anyone that is coming from a feature phone and is not a tech enthusiast will most likely be swayed by the salesperson they talk to when they purchase their phone. Some of those salespeople will try and sell the "latest and greatest" and others will sell what they like, be it Android or the iPhone line.

I'm coming from a feature phone myself, and everytime I walk into a store they try to sell me an iPhone. I'm like BEGONE SATAN!
Truly at this point people can choose for themselves. Most people still don't know what Android is really about and are scared to look into it. Those are the people who will buy an iPhone.
But the people that know what both are, often know how to choose. I have friends that have had an iPhone and an Android phone and love their Android. And visa versa. It's just really a Mac vs. PC thing going on here again.

GS2 will be called The Fascinate II on Verizon can somebody say Bing!!! :-\

DL just tweeted that Barnes and Nobles is taking pre-orders on Motorola Bionic for Dummies books for 8/30.

i dont understand why everyone is so intent on jumping on the gs2 after the horrible track record with.the fascinate, you really want to be a year behind everyone else with ice cream sandwich? They havnt changed either, the charge is still on froyo also and probably wont.officially have gb until after ics is already out. Not to mention the fascinate was hardly reliable and very plasticy and dealing without a notification light is harder then you think. Just wait for your buyers remorse months down the line, its silly to think samsung has changed they havnt even said themselves that they're going to be different.
