All Xoom owners getting Google Music Beta?

I finally got mine today as well. I am in the process of uploading all of my music, but so far I am a little disappointed with what I have seen. I like that you can edit tags from the web interface, but I was also looking for functionality like it scanning the song and updating the tag/album art like other programs do.

My guess is that it will develop into a much richer system with some time as Google docs has done.

What I want right now is a damn pause button for uploading. Is there anyway to pause it? I am afraid to kill the application for fear of having to start all over again.

You can kill it without worry. It'll take some extra time to figure out what it's already uploaded, but it doesn't re-upload music it already got. What's nice about that is I uploaded all of my music from a portable harddrive on my school computer due to the fast internet speeds, but I was still able to get the music manager app to sync with iTunes on my home computer without it freaking out.

Got mine... looks and works great, especially cool logging on to my work computer and having my entire music collection available. Too bad there's a 20K song limit lol... I don't know what I'll do.

Good to know. I still sent Google some feedback about adding a pause button.

I received my invitation earlier today. My music is on my laptop at home. I'm wondering how long it will take to upload about 20 gigs on DSL....

I got mine too. Initially it wouldn't update my Music to the new one because I'm an international user. I finally gave in and rooted my Xoom and used Market Enabler to get it to update. I'm actually able to use it too, even without a proxy. With all the restrictions they put on international users they really can't expect people to not root their devices.

You bring up a good point...my Q is somewhat loosely based on this thread.

Android phones/tablets currently being sold in some countries don't have access to the Android Market yet. Example, Samsung has a pseudo Market but I heard they have VERY BASIC apps. If I were to say, pick up an Android WiFi tablet (Xoom, Tab 2, etc.) and gift it to my family overseas...will they have access to the Market as we do in the US? or do I have to root the device before taking it over there?

Thanks!

My Experience with Google Music Beta on Xoom and myTouch 3g slide

I also got my acceptance to Google Music Beta.
Here are a handful of pics from flickr and I wrote a detailed review as well.

Overall, it was a good experience, but very similar to Amazon MP3 cloud.
The biggest mistake I made was including a bunch of audio books I have.
Not really something I want in my collection in the cloud. I really like audio books, but some of those files alone are 100+ MB.. If I could do it over again, I would have removed those.

Because 5K songs, is not a total nightmare to upload, but some of my audio books are HUGE like GIGS worth. lesson learned, I moved them out of my official library.

Hope this helps !

If there's any tough-techies out there, I store my iTunes library on FreeNAS and it worked just the same. I Had a good experience, but I will expect some future upgrades from Google.

What I do is just exit the music manager and it seems to pick up where it left off the next time I start it up.

This is a good point by Kirky and good question..

I actually installed the music manager on multiple PC's right in the middle of 5K uploads..

It will pick up where you left off, but in my experience, it scanned again first.
You can definitely shut it down, in fact it will run as a service depending on your settings...

Basically, even from multiple PC's it will go back through ( assuming you point it to the same folder(s) ) and scan through and tell itself: "I already uploaded this, pass "

As I mentioned I had a bunch of HUGE audio books I rather would NOT have uploaded due to size, I had to MOVE them out of my designated folder. So CAUTION.....

Multiple PC's Is OK, but it will take a little while to catch up the scan, depending on the volume of music you have !

Cuz

I finally got my invite, it is great and I made a small review on it, uploading songs was a bit faster than Amazon MP3, but it was still a bit better because the music manager was a whole lot simpler. Worked great on my Xoom and Nexus S. If anyone cannot get it working try going into your accounts and sync, and sync up your Google account, you will then have a prompt by your music app to authorize the device with Google Music Beta.

Xoom wifi here. Signed up for Google music on Wednesday night, Thursday morning when I woke uo, my invite was there. I have yet to try it out though.

I tried the moment I came home, uploading will take a while but the integration with the music player practically seamless, some things need to be worked out but other than that it just feels like your cloud is actually in your phone.
