Am I alone thinking that the LG G6 doesn't get enough coverage?

Sammy gets a lot of attention because they are the biggest player. As far as the G6/S8 comparison goes for me, I have used both and ended up staying with the G6. The S8+ is a gorgeous device no doubt but it honestly came down to which phone felt more comfortable in my hand - and for me it was the G6.

Sure, the extra features (iris scan, etc) sound cool at first, I just found myself getting confused - which one is it looking for - and even with the FPS, once located I would still have to "swipe to open" (this could be my ignorance on how to use it). The G6, two taps on the screen and boom - I'm in. That I like a lot :)

As an LG fan and owner of the V20 I think the G6 has gotten a fair amount of coverage here

The G6 does kind of expose the flaws of our marketing departments, but this also shows just how popular the iphone and Samsung lines are. Infact I don't know if you have been to a Target Mobile recently, but in the past year or so they have REMOVED all phones that were not samsung or apple, and no longer sell them. Aside from the pre paid packages, the only contract phones target mobile sells is apple and samsung, sad indeed. It is hard to convince my sales rep how good the LG phones have been since his training and press release doc's say nothing. He never even heard of the G6.

Still the G6 is still playing catch up. Unfortunately while they made a great phone, they needed to make some major PR moves like far more aggressive pricing, head phone bundles. Also samsung's s8 gains samsungs technical advantages from the oled display and its lock on the faster processor, so LG should have given its all in existing technologies like offering both wireless charging AND superior audio chips, and 64 or 128gigs of internal memory.

The initial invest ment returns would have been slower and lower but it would put more LG phones in the hands of users creating a fanbase that samsung and apple already enjoy and make money off of.

..funny. My Target added, "Google Pixel now available!" signs.

Returned my g6. I for one, refuse to support a company who thinks its ok to release a 32gb only model whith lesser proc while other markets get 64.

I do love my LG fridge though.

Is this because the S8 is 64GB?

Oh, okay. I thought OP was saying not getting cell coverage.

I'm actually seeing way better signal for cell and WiFi than I did on the BlackBerry Priv!

Initially it received quite a bit of coverage, mostly because it was the first major flagship of 2017, and also because it is one of LG's best. As expected, it was overshadowed by the Samsung release. I already know I like LG so I don't need advertisements, press coverage, or store displays to guide me. Those who don't however, may completely overlook a high quality device.

Hahha we indians are lucky we get 64gb with hifi dac soo iam super happy with G6 and happy to skip s8 this year
And free screen replacement within 6 months

Ha yes very lucky!! I did enjoy the DAC in the V20, but I mostly listen to music while exercising so I have my LG BLuetooths on.

Without reading all of the comments here, I think largely the majority of people buying Samsung and Apple are being brainwashed into thinking they're getting the best of what Android and Apple is offering. Well the iPhone is all Apple is offering in the way of smartphones. But Samsung has so much money to throw at marketing, that they have the power to convince Android buyers that they have the best product on the market. This unfortunately will continue to hurt LG and the others. Sales will always determine who comes ahead. In this case I definitely prefer LG over Samsung even though on paper it appears that the S8 is better than the G6.

This 32gb thing has been so overblown its not funny. All last year almost every flagship phone was 32gb and nobody said a word about it. Then magically 32gb was an atrocity and people cant live with it even with an sd card.

I dont know what you're putting on your phone to take up 32 gb but Ive got over 60 apps and Im only at 14gb including the OS.

Lastly, yes its "only" 32gb but its also $250 cheaper than the S8 and $350 less than the S8+ (T-Mobile $500). If you feel that extra 32gb of storage justifies an additional $350 of cost then thats on you. I for one will not pay that price for such a small increase in capacity. And no, the other "features" of the S8/S8+ dont justify the cost difference either considering half of them dont work and the rest is completely subjective to personal use.

32 GB was definitely a problem last year too. In 2015 several OEM's had 64 GB options, and many people were complaining about 32 GB being the base in flagships, especially when there wasn't a larger option readily available. Luckily we had the 64 GB Note 5 option, 64 GB and 128 GB Nexus 6P, 64 GB Moto X Pure Edition, 64 GB & 128 GB iPhone 6s, etc. available to lead the way away from too little storage. 32 GB is basically what you'd expect to get base in a budget phone from 2015 and forward. Even the Moto G that I bought last year had 64 GB of storage.

For 2016, we had the V20, iPhone 7, Pixel, Moto Z lineup, etc, etc. rocking 64 or more - so basically every single flagship device that's taking itself seriously was offering 64 GB or more except for Samsung, which tried to sell 32 GB + SD card as better than more internal, which, since they didn't offer adoptable storage, was seems to have been an obvious lie. SD cards are much slower, much less secure and much less stable than internal storage and you can't store most app content on SD cards.

For 2017, the S8 kicked off immediately with 64 GB base in order to catch up with everyone from the last couple of years. LG did also, in select markets, so for in the US market, we only get 32 GB - presumably because they believe we can get away with less storage due to the readily available unlimited data plans from every carrier, which allows us to stream non-stop instead of storing everything on the device. *shrug*

All of those phones except the V20 had a base model of 32gb. Yes they offered higher storage capacity at a higher price. Some didnt even offer a sd slot.

And it still doesnt justify up to a $350 price difference.

Right, 32 GB Base is only a problem when that's the only option available. And not offering an SD slot, IMO, is a good thing so long as you are offering sufficient storage options, such as 64, 128 or 256 GB.
