Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performance?

Re: Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performa

My 2 cents. The phone is super fast. I do think the 2D picture quality is not as good because the display seems darker than my EVO 4G. Even some games are just not bright enough. I am one of those who would like the fonts to be larger like the EVO 4G. Makes reading and deleting messages and e-mails quicker. Also some games seem smaller. I do get great call quality and battery lasts quite long for me. 3D pictures to me are awesome, no headaches eye problems or so forth. If you do have problems viewing 3D pics just zoom them a bit and looks great. Still might have to trade in for my old EVO 4G though. Great phone but just not for me right now.

Re: Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performa

How does the 2d pictures compare between the Nexus S and EVO 3d?

I have Nexus S and need to decide if I want to exchange it for the EVO 3d within the next few hours. I have had no problems with the Nexus S these past 30 days and like the camera quality. Can I expect the same for EVO 3d?

I actually took a photo of my pug using my 4G, and my 3D within 20 seconds of each other. They both did really well, but the 3D had a much higher resolution. I could zoom in and see each little hair on his back, whereas on my 4G, I could not.

This was in bright light conditions. My 4G currently outperforms my 3D in low light.

I'll post a photo comparison when I get home.

The nexus takes better pictures than the 4g, and 3d. I dont really think its close honestly..

Snapdragon Dual-Core > Hummingbird Single Core end of story.

There is NO way a Nexus S is a better gaming platform than the Evo 3D.

Snadragon dual core over hummingbird is correct! 3D is a rocketship... But as of right now the Nexus is the better gaming platform. Until developers figure out across the board what is making games run so poorly and get it optimized for their specific games, the Nexus will still be the best gaming platform on Sprint besides maybe the HTC Arrive. Not going into the tablets category obv! I think the BB Playbook would be the most powerful there but I could be wrong...

Re: Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performa

It's not really fare to compare 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 and a pure Google device that has been available for nearly a year to developers. Saying the Nexus is better might sound good. Does that mean someone should buy a Nexus S? I don't think so. The Evo 3D is much more future proof and games optimized for the dual core environment will start ripping the Nexus S a new one before too long. Just in time for the Next Gen Nexus to come out :)

Re: Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performa

People coming from a original evo I can see why they would think game performance is good on this device considering evo 1 was downright pathetic on games. Me coming from a iPhone 4, Palm Pre, and my curent nexus I expect smoother game performance. THAT IS ALL!
Then go back to your IPhone, don't care about 3d gaming on my smartphone. Thats what my 360 and DS are for..

Like a previous poster stated... This is not 2005 anymore... Phones are becoming more and more dependent to do everything. Gaming is just one thing people want on their phone so they don't have to lug around multiple devices. To each his own. I don't want a Iphone hence why I USED to own one...

The nexus was great for its time dont get me wrong but most good developers will start to optimize performance for the evo seeing as how the evo is such a popular phone... Once that happens the evo 3d will blow the nexus out the water.. Its just faster in all areas.. Only thing I would say the Nexus still wins with is the screen... You have to give samsung their credit for the screens.. Super amoled plus blows everything ive seen out the water..

Yet but at the end of the day its still a phone, no smart phone does everything well. Your topic states that you are disappointed with the 3D's performance but you use gaming as your basis, a feature that IMO is a perk. When you factor in that the phone has to do so much more like make calls, web surf, text, provide you with locational navigation, hotspot , take pictures/shoot vids and be your social hub , all while maintaing good battery life somewhere something has to fall short. I would prefer it to be gaming then any of the aforementioned. I think its nitpicking to say performance it bad because gaming isnt as good as a DS or PSP. Tho some phones may do gaming slightly better they fall short in other areas. Yes tech is changing but at the end of the day I need my phone to do much, much more then just play pretty looking games. If a DS had to do everything my 3D does it would be the size of a Wii. 3D is is the best phone ive ever owned. 14hrs 31mins and counting just under half full... Yeah I'm disappointed............ ;)

Well that's nice but if you look a few pages back "page 9 to be exact" you will see I listed more reasons as to why I'm keeping the Nexus. Subpar gaming is just one reason... I don't have the patience either to see how long it takes developers to optimize for the 3D...

Good for you. Enjoy your Nexus and the proper forums for it.

I, on the other hand, will enjoy my e3d.

Oh yeah, the earbuds too.

Yeah well atleast they aren't Apple like buds that fall out of everyone's ear along with subpar sound quality. They are basically the same ones included with the Epic 4G. They do a decent job for what they are. I use Ultimate Ears though so I could really care less personally about included earbuds for myself.

The Evo 3D is a great phone I am not denying that! But it has its shortcomings just as every phone does on the market. The main problems with the Nexus is the WIFI and cellular signal strength. Personally I have not had any problems with cellular signal but Wifi is absolutely awful. I can be standing 5 feet from the router and lose 1 bar. Hopefully this will be taken care of as well with a future software update...
You blatantly call out all the short comings of your beloved Nexus S. Short comings which IMO are far more awful then gaming and so called color wash out which I dont see on my phone. Then you state that you do not want to wait for HTC to update the 3D to optimize gaming, but you beg for a software update to fix the Nexus S horrible Wifi? Your joking right, gaming and a slightly better pic quality are more important then the phone actually being able to function as it should? Seems to that you are one of two things someone who didnt give the 3D a fair chance or someone who hates the awesomeness of HTC products. All phones need updates, some happen out of the box, some come later, they improve the phone as they learn more about the way it functions in real time. Working WiFi owns gaming everyday of the week......... Dont need superior gaming specs to play Robo Defense or Game Dev Story....

The wifi works for me everywhere I go. It just doesn't show as many bars as it should. So no wifi for me is not a bigger problem than subpar gaming! End of story!

Who knew a 5 day old official launch phone would not have a ton of highly optimized games yet?

Surprising to say the least....

Enjoy the FAR inferior GPU on the Nexus S. I'll wait a little while and play far more graphic intensive games on my 3D.

Re: Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performa

This is not an Evo vs Nexus thread. If that's what someone wishes to discuss, there is already a separate thread for that in this forum.

Let's stop the Nexus talk, get back on topic and start getting along.
