Am I the only one who doesn't care about bezels?

Nothing said about next generation Pixel 2 & XL2 battery!

Maybe bigger bezel means bigger battery's? 3200 mAh & 3800 mAh battery's would be a fantastic trade for bigger bezel?

Optimist! If we believe OnLeaks' dimensions it will be < 2mm longer, marginally narrower and slightly thinner. I wouldn't bet on a big increase in battery, though I'd be happy to be proved wrong.

The obsession with thinness drives me nuts. All the phones are plenty thin. I want more battery... :-)

Agreed. I remember when I got the HTC Rezound people were complaining about how thick it was, and the Pixel is about half as thick IIRC. I would happily have them double the thickness of the Pixel for more battery, or a combination of bigger battery and thick casing to provide a stronger shell for durability.

As for bezels, I don't really care. Smaller is fine until it impacts usability. And while the 2:1 display ratio makes the device less wide, it also seems to increase the height. Two problems with that for me, it makes reaching items at the top even harder, and it looks like a freaking touchscreen remote!

So unless there is something groundbreaking in the XL2, (and I really don't want to move back to a large phone again as the Pixel is almost perfect) I'll be staying with the regular Pixel.

If it has front facing speakers I don't care about bezels. If it doesn't then it should be minimal bezels. No reason to have large space for bezels if it isn't gonna be used for anything.

So am I the only one who legitimately doesn't care about bezels in the slightest?

I somewhat care but to a point. I have nothing against the bezel size on the first Pixel, but say something like the Galaxy Tab 2...yeah, that's a bit excessive.

I prefer 16/9 ratio without bezels! I wonder if any phone company has the guts to be different?

I will accept larger bezels for a larger battery. Otherwise, I prefer to have a bigger screen in a smaller body (i.e. minimal bezel).

Sure, thin bezels(but some), a flat screen (I REALLY like glass screen protectors), a battery in the 3500-4500 range, in exchange for a bit of thickness and weight.
Seems simple, and the S8 Active *almost* does it, if they release the unlocked version, and decide to actually get into the Android update cadence (<=4 months seems reasonable)

Funny nuff, I just picked up my S7 today and it seems so chunky and boxy on the screen as I'm used to the longer narrow one of the S8...
Just looks different, didn't bother me any. I do get the occasional false touch with overlapping fingers...

I don't care about the look of having bezel. But bezel is important as it's part of the phone size. There is no way I will consider a 6" pixel 2 XL if they keep pixel XL bezel. It will make the phone way too large.

I don't mind bezels so much in terms of functionality, but at this point phones with enormous bezels just look dated. Phones are expensive. I don't want to spend money on something that looks old.

My fiance has the S8. After playing w/ it for a while, I care about bezels. Kinda shocked that the Pixel still has em but I do enjoy front facing speaking. Regardless, no headphone jack + no dual camera = wait until Pixel 3

No headphone jack is my deal killer, too. I couldn't care less about bezels, though.

ETA: perfectly happy with my Blue XL.

Very minimal bezels good battery dual cam+ otherwise a no go. As much as I love iPhones. Those bezels for years

It's funny because a lot of times bigger might be better w/ screens, people want bigger TV's, smartphones screens have become bigger, etc which is why I find small bezels appealing. The ability to have as much screen real estate possible & avoid having a phone that is too large & cumbersome.

So I'm typing this on my Nexus 6P. I love this phone, but the time to upgrade is coming soon. I'm pretty sold on the Pixel XL 2, but as I read the latest news, it seems everyone is talking about bezels rather than features, performance, or expectations. Some are acting as though bezels murdered their family or something - and I'm sitting here perfectly content with my ridiculously large bezels not caring at all. So am I the only one who legitimately doesn't care about bezels in the slightest? I care more about the performance, the storage, the OS updates, the camera, stereo speakers, the battery...you know, the features of the phone. Bezels? Who cares? Not me.

Yeah I don't know when this became a thing. I mean I like the galaxy designs a lot lately but I didn't buy them because they were bezelless.
