Ambient Display and DT2W

Interested in this phone but two things are deal breakers so far, ambient display and double tap to wake. I'm a fan of rooting for Xposed mods so I'd like to know if current owners have found satisfactory workarounds for these two "features", rooted or stock?

It might happen, but if you want Ambient Display, you really should look at OLED displays. Ambient LED will mean the whole screen is on all the time. This would be a HUGE battery suck.

I'm not using an Honor 8, but the app "Wave Lock" has worked really well on my Nexus 4. Coupled with "AC Display" it works just like my Moto x does. You can download both in the play store.

Double tap would be nice too, but I couldn't find a way to do this. Wave lock uses the proximity sensor, and is pretty much just as reliable as Moto's IR sensor setup.

I have tried a double tap to wake app... It works but they recommend oled only so battery drain might be high on lcd.
