Amount of RAM?

One other tidbit - I've been having this problem since I had my phone stock with 2.1, so I'm assuming its not the mods I've done.

I'm using LauncherProPlus to answer the question from a few posts up.

so you tried the file i suggested and it didnt fix your problem??

Admittedly no. Its not that I don't want to take your advice and try it, I'm just trying to see if anyone can see any easier fix ideas or if something obvious might come to you before I wipe my phone for a 3rd time. Its not quite as painful as wiping your hard drive, but the idea is there. And still being relatively new at all of this flashing stuff is another reason I'm trying to find the "easy" way out. O:-) What about the dalvic wipe?

So, when your phone is in its "slow" state you click the task manager and you still have 100MB left? That's *plenty*

And then it tells you that you don't have enough memory? When you have 100MB? That's absurd to me. Honestly stumped.

What exactly do you mean by slow? Use something like System Panel to see what is running in the background when the phone is being slow. Take down widgets. Do you have 2 launchers running or did you put LPP in your system folder and erase what came with your ROM? Maybe try another launcher for a day too, something simple like Zeam.

Nope but go head keep looking, good luck

Its not that it runs slow. I don't think I"ve actually noticed a difference in speed when I get that icon that pops up saying that I have low memory. I just discovered that task manager RAM tab yesterday. So next time I get the icon pop up I will look and see how much it says I have left. And then reboot it and see how much it says is free. Now that the reboot option is in the menu when you press the power button it is much easier to reboot!

I have LPP set as the default launcher. I didn't think or know to try deleting the stock launcher. I'm not sure where LPP is. I didn't put it anywhere, but rather just left it wherever it installed to.

Sorry for the confusion with the slow running, thinking of someone else :)

Rebooting will always give you lots of free memory, then the system fills it with cached apps for quick access.

No problem. :)

Yea, I know rebooting will clear everything out. I don't think I really have all that much stuff running such that it should overload the system and had also heard that the android OS is very good at managing its memory, which is why I was surprised I was getting these memory messages.

so did you find the answer to this btw?

Not sure exactly. I did the dalvic wipe today. but now that I'm trying to instal SC2.7 I'm stuck on the samsung screen. I guess I'll know if I can get my phone back to a functioning state.

it most likely will be the same thing if you flashed more than one rom, non of those replace certain partitions on your phone except that file i suggested

OK. I'm working on getting EB16 per your suggestion in the other thread and if that doesn't fix it I'll give this a try.

Did you get this resolved? Actually may be having a similar issue and want to get it fixed if possible (without a complete wipe I hope...)

No, not exactly. I still get the low memory notices every so often but they aren't so often that they are that annoying and I just reboot when I see them. I too am trying to avoid a wipe as I've mentioned previously. Best of luck.
