Android 11 public beta now available!!

Anyone having issues with Pandora crashing on the beta?
It's not the beta, it's Pandora's recent update. Since their update a few days ago I can't even open the app anymore. It's really frustrating since it's the only music app I use. I've emailed them a couple times already on this

Opting out of beta did not work

I tried to opt out beta 2 and it presented me with the downgrade to Android 10. It erased the data and supposedly installed Android 10. When I checked the version, I was surprised to see I was still on Android 11. I checked for updates and it wanted to install Android 10 again. I tried again and still ended up back on Android 11. I gave up and opted back into the beta and now it says I'm up to date. I did some research and discovered that Google had said some users may not be able to downgrade back to Android 10 due to a known bug. Just a heads up.

Here is the XDA link on not being able to opt out.

Google Chrome stuttering

I don't know if it's the beta or a problem with Chrome. It used to be buttery smooth. Now it stutters and lags when scrolling through news stories. The Google app on the other hand is smooth. Anyone else? It might be due to a recent Chrome update.
My chrome stutters every now and then I'm only running 1 to 3 tabs in full desktop mode. I mean it only studders maybe 5% of time not that severe. Have you tried to reboot your pixel at all?

Hi, Eric. Yes, I've tried rebooting plus clearing Chrome's history and cache. It's really not a big deal, but I like things to work correctly.

Oh well yes of course. I completely understand. Like I said mine starters every now and then but I'm sure they'll correct it in the next beta. The only thing that I really noticed that slightly is annoying but it's livable, as I use split screen mode a lot and when I'm resizing the bottom window with the keyboard the keyboard eight times out of ten gets stuck and then I have to either clear out of the split screen mode, or resize the two windows and pray to God that the keyboard resizes correctly again.

Have you tried shooting Video with the Google Camera app?

Usually before the 1 minute mark, it pops an error "Something went wrong, part of this video may not be saved." And, sometimes it also complains that it cannot record audio because another app is using the microphone.

This on a Pixel 4 XL. On another board it was suggested to uninstall camera updates; tried that but same result.

Flash off, Full HD resolution, Frames/Sec=Auto

Yeah, I got the same thing on my 3xl. Makes it difficult for making my blogs until it gets fixed.

You have to come I know exactly what you're talking about. If I'm in my Google camera app I'm in video mode, then it will successfully record video like you set up to the one minute mark. Everything beyond that it cannot save and this causes the entire system to arrow out and freeze up and crash. What I usually do is a work around and beta program mode, is in camera mode just press and hold the shutter down and that'll take video for as long as you wanted to successfully. The only thing that sucks is the fact that you have to keep your thumb on the shutter button pressing and holding the button down in order for it to keep on recording video. But it will still record the video... Google's got to fix that in the next beta version. M

Researching further, I'm not sure it's related to the Android 11 beta, as many threads on this subject can be found by googling from quite old (2014) to very current.

The problem with video may, in fact, be a problem with audio (that brief notice about the mic being used by another app). I found that a simple restart solved (at least for the moment) the problem, so I'm wondering if I have a wayward app that does not release the mic when the app closes.

Yes, I think you're absolutely right. Last night I tested it once again on my Pixel 3XL beta 2, and sure enough this time, after about 25 to 30 seconds of regular video recording, my camera app froze up and crashed completely and it took about a minute or so for the recover. It seems like it's in a crash the entire phone, but doesn't. However, would have to do was going to the regular camera mode and turn the flashlight on at night time of course and press and hold the shutter button and video will record smoothly. The problem like I said and the frustration is the fact that you have to press and hold your finger down on the shutter button and you can't release it. Something to do with audio because it says recording audio is not working and then the camera application crashes at that point. Thankfully at least for me, lol, I don't record video all that much on my phone so it's not too too big of a deal. but nonetheless, it can be annoying for some other users. Good mentioning of that!

Got it
