Well, ever since Android 11 beta program, my phone is hooked up in my car, Android auto works fine. However, if I say that Google catchphrase for assistant that will work, but then my audio of music from YouTube music doesn't automatically resume even though the song ticker continues. I have to toggle other audio sources and then I'll go back to Android Auto for to continue playback.

I wish my car had both Android auto and car play. I only has car play and works great with my iPhone but would loved to have both when I'm carrier an Android phone as my main phone. I have never tried Android play.

I don't. I connect my phone, Android auto starts, I use waze and Pandora all the time. I don't know what I would use assistant for after that.

Oh, gotcha. See for me, I use a system for everything in my car. Playing music starting my playlist, navigating somewhere, all the normal commands I would use Google Assistant for it. Lol.

Gotcha. I try to interact with my phone as little as possible when I'm driving. I can see how assistant could be useful though.

Haha yeah thanks! The interaction isn't distracting. Cuz when you say the Google catchphrase assistant kicks in and does anything you wanted to do while your eyes are on the road.
