Did you do a reboot of the phone? If that doesn't do it clear the cache and data of Gmail app, reboot phone.

yep those were the first things I tried. It's weird because it's running in the background, it just told me I had an email about your reply, but the app itself won't open. So Beta :)

Maybe uninstall Gmail and then reinstall it.

Yeah was working on that. Uninstalled updates eared cache rebooted tried old app, no go, updated, no go.

Bug report says it's missing a WebView package

Ok..so go into Play Store uninstall any updates to WebView. Then try Gmail. Might want to reboot first before trying Gmail. Install the updates again and give Gmail another try. WebView has caused some weird issues in the past.

Ha! So actually I was just about to post that. I followed my bug report trail, it linked to an identical issue in another app and suggested uninstalling the updates for WebView. Took me a bit to find it in My Apps because I was looking for "WebView", not "Android WebView" (you know the whole 'opposite end of the alphabet thing). But yes, did that, and now both GMail and the MLB Ballpark app are working fine (which is good because i have 3 tickets for a Cubs game in the Ballpark app)

Thanks for helping figure it out! I'm glad they are working, I'm absolutely loving the visuals of Android 12, as well as being able to tap on the Wifi button in Notifications and get options instead of turning off my wifi!

That's great! That pesky WebView has caused a myriad of issues. Usually it is the Beta version. I had to leave the WebView beta program, uninstall the updates, wait until the updates weren't for the beta version and problem fixed.
Enjoy Android 12 Beta.
The next Beta (3) update should come between next Monday (which I doubt) and the 18th.

Just wanted to provide an update about notification dots on my phone. This must not be affecting everyone, so it's an isolated bug. I realized notification dots were not appearing on any app. If I clear cache and force stop Pixel Launcher notification dots work again for a short time, and then stop. Force stop, clear cache on Launcher > they work again for a short time, etc. I updated my Google Tracker bug. Google updated the priority to a P2 so they must be aware of the bug. We shall see.

The notification dots have always worked fine for me on my 4A. I generally use a third party launcher and their notification count and dots are sometimes problematical and different launchers work better than others but usually work pretty good. But on the pixel launcher I've never had an issue.

Material you for chrome is supposed to be rolling out. Anyone seen it yet?

Like a moth to the flame I couldn't resist trying out Beta 2. Currently I have no major issues using it on my Pixel 4A. There are a few times that the animation when closing an app stutters. As for feedback, I prefer the old internet options on th pull down menu where you had separate options for WiFi and mobile data. I also still do not like the touch animations when pressing on menu options in the settings. It doesn't look polished.

So, 2 weeks ago, I flew out to go and visit my best friend in Dallas, TX. I took this picture of his backyard at nighttime. I was showing my dad yesterday all of the pictures, and he said "wow, that picture looks like a painting to me.". Go Google pixel camera go! Just wanted to share this.

Well, maybe it's just me, but material you auto-theming definitely looks better in light mode vs dark mode.

I really want a way to turn it off. I'm just not all that impressed and some of the colors it picks are ugly. I want the wallpaper I choose but not the atrocious pink color it picked. Ugh!

The Material You theming will bet better in the future beta builds that's for sure! Honesty, some of the color choices are a little confusing to me, but I love the auto-theming overall! Looks a lot better than it did before on the phone. I'm also just waiting for GBoard to be auto-themed as well!

A choice to turn it on or off would be great for those who aren't all that impressed with it. Hopefully that will be included in the future.

That's a good point. Well, we shall see. I do know that material you auto-theming will get better even with the next beta build like I said. Right now it's not crashing, and it looks pretty good. I guess that comment I agree the color choices a little odd sometimes but it's not a big deal to me.

Not only is that a beautiful picture but I am jealous you went to Dallas. I really like Dallas but not been since 1999

Oh, hehehe Thanks! Yeah it was nice to hang out with him for about a week or so. And yeah, nightshot and portrait mode are awesome! Go Pixel go!

Until the pig ugly pink showed up I couldn't have cared less about this feature. I consider it aesthetic fluff. Now I have to look at it every time I look at my phone.

Yeah , okay. Fair enough I got you. By the way, I see you have four options in your drop down notification shade. What screen size with you have your phone display settings at? I've tried the higher settings myself and that's why I noticed that.
