Actually, I did a factory reset and problems still exist. First time I have ever done a factory reset and first time I have had problems. Go figure!

Later today, I'll do another one, but this BS with this update plus what I read about makes me hope Samsung does a lot of changes to 12 that will actually make it better. Some of these changes I see are ludicrous. One feature, adding the date/time to the upper left, takes up valuable screen space; especially since it appears many still add the date/time/weather widget just below; thus removing one line of icons below. All due to some moron in googles basement deciding it would be good to have a duplicate of date/time on the main screen.

I have never been closer to jumping to IOS in my life and I have been with android since my first droid. I'm hoping someone reads these posts and makes some program changes, but I will not hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

And now, I'm having problems with the visual voicemail.
The horizontal space where the the time is on the home screen isn't usable any way. An app icon can't be moved to that line any way. So no real loss there.

I'm really surprised at all the issues people are having. My pixel 4A is running super smooth and I have no complaints at all. I think this is one of the smoothest releases yet. That's just my user experience. I don't use the at a glance widget so that's not a problem. I'm generally always on a third party launcher and they are all running really well. I love the material you feature with the coloring it takes all the drab white out of the mix that used to be there in previous releases.
Sorry so many are having issues and I understand some have them and some don't I guess I drew a longer straw in this release. Very pleased with Android 12.

Other then not being a big fan of Material You I haven't noticed any obvious bugs that have crawled out on my Pixel 4a. So when I get my P6P I will sign back up to the 12.1 beta program.

Yeah I completely agree with you! I'm really surprised at all these issues people are having as well they're just overly complaining! My pixel 5 is running absolutely fine!

OVERLY COMPLAINING? Believe me when I say I am also surprised since for the many years I have used Android this is the first time this BS has happened.

Visual voicemail does not work....
poweramp not working correctly, but at least it works.
Calls blacklist keeps closing
Google fit keeps closing
That's just to name a few.

AND ALL WERE WORKING LAST WEEK WITH NO PROBLEMS ON ANDROID 11.
IF THIS IS OVERLY COMPLAINING SO BE IT. HOWEVER, I WOULD HAVE TO THINK IF IT WAS HAPPENING TO YOU, YOU WOULD BE FIRST IN LINE TO COMPLAIN.

I won't even go into the design of the new OS cause that is subjective and some are OVERLY COMPLAINING, SOME AREN'T. I just figure that if google gave a damn about their customers (blind followers) they might give them a switch to turn back to previous display. Maybe give every one a way to revert back to previous OS level.

And I will say that some of these problems are due to the apps not being updated; however, visual voice mail is part of the software I believe. I can still access voicemail via Verizon; however, I have NO indications that voice mails have been left in some cases, and in some cases I get a notification that voicemails cannot be downloaded. Two different notifications at different times for different voicemails. THAT IS A BUG!

As it stands with the design of Android 12, I agree. However, if that day/date line was removed (as the temp line was able to be removed) then it could be used. It was usable in Android 11, as shown in the double screen shot showing 12 on the left; 11 on the right.
Maybe not all the way to the top but a good ways to the top the widget for day/date/temp was a heck of a lot higher on the screen in previous OS versions.

And because that top area cannot be used, only two rows of apps can be shown on the main screen.

Sure looks to me that Android 12's design uses way too much space for nothing!

This is a design fault IN MY OPINION; however, at least that was a design, I'm sure all the problems with apps was not.

VVM works for me.
Fit works for me.
Blacklist works for me.
I don't use Poweramp.
So maybe you need to do a complete factory reset and not restore from a backup. Install everything from a clean slate.
Or just go to a different phone brand or to iOS.

I understand completely that some users are not happy with 12 and some are having minor issues, some are having major issues. I have mixed feelings about Android 12, some things I like.....some I don't. But I will say that the public release of 12 fixed a very annoying bug I had thru all 5 beta versions of 12. I bought a new Jeep in May and started using Android Auto. All was good on Android 11, volume was nice & loud when listening to music. As soon as I jumped on 12 beta 1 the music volume with Android Auto and with just plain on Bluetooth in my Jeep was way too low. Music volume when using my JBL Bluetooth speakers was fine, no issues there. I fought my phone every week for months trying every "trick" I could find online (clearing app caches, force closing apps and restarting, uninstalling apps and reinstalling, quickly sliding volume all the way down and all the way up very fast) and all might or might not be a temporary fix. I was hoping this would not be an issue with my new Pixel 6 when it arrives, so I just lived with it. Since the public release of 12 my music volume in the Jeep (with Android Auto and plain old Bluetooth) is back to normal and very loud when I want it to be.

I understand that there are minor glitches with the OS... Depends on your opinion of what a minor glitch is. For example, in Android 10 & 11 betas my Pixel 3XL sucked horribly for me for Android Auto, and battery issues. However, once those OS's became stable, all those issues vanished. you expect to experience issues in a beta. Unfortunately, for some reason, not everyone has the same bug and issues and that is why it's soo important to report all of them to the development team.

Now, as far as the OS design, the only thing that I can say is that Google nor Apple nor Samsung can please everyone in the world that own a device running their OS. It's impossible to please everyone. With that being said, that' is why some users jump ship to iOS or go the Samsung route. I personally LOVE the way Android 12 looks with Material You! For the first time, you can totally customize the look & feel of your phone without needing t download a 3rd party launcher. Looks great to me!

No OS is perfect. I understand if you don't like Material You overall.... even being a long time Android user. Like I said, there are certain aspects of the UI that encourage a user to change OS and go iOS/Android. THat's just the way the cookie crumbles so -to-speak. I for one, still love the customizations of Android, and the sheer usability and customizations of notifications etc. Is there a hiccup with my Android Auto? Yes, and I've opened up an issue on the Google product forums regarding it. Hopefully someone will help me out soon, but it's also not the end of the world either.

Like I said, even though you've been a long standing Android user, if there's something with the design Material You that's really pissing you off, at this I doubt Google will fix it majorly. That's what the beta program was for for the past few months. For example, If your phone is on vibrate mode, there is no more status bar icon indicating that you're in that mode. Unless you pull down the notification shade. Does that annoy me? Yes, a little bit, and I reported it to Google. However, it's NOT MAJOR, and it would be irrational for me to go nuts about it just for that one minor annoyance if that makes sense.

I hope this helps someone out and makes sense. :D

That is one of the issues with Android, there are too many manufacturers with too many devices running too many versions of the OS. Just because your 5 is working well does not mean other people are lying or overreacting. It means there are many different experiences with it.

That's why they need to state what phone they're referring to. My Pixel 4a doesn't have some features that a Pixel 5 or 5a has. For example my P4A doesn't have Quick Tap..the 5 or 5a does.
That goes for issues as well. Some models/brands are free of issues while other models/brands are snake bit.

Very true. If you’re going to use Android it’s something you have to deal with. I use both OS’s so I understand both sides. It depends on what you’re willing to put up with.

Apple has had its share of issues with iOS and with certain iphone models as well. No os or oem is immune from glitches. No point in putting one's weenie in the grinder over it.

Yeah, I mean I agree that there are too many versions of android OS on too many different phones. Some people that have Samsung galaxy phones not have the same issues that I have on my pixel phone and vice versa. In general though, that’s been the frustration with android since it’s inception. I also don’t believe it’ll ever go away. But that is what I would call it is what it is. I’m not trying to discount anyone’s experiences or feelings are obviously better but yeah my pics are five barely has any issues whatsoever. I do feel bad and horrible for the people that do have system issues…. I know it can be very frustrating, especially if it’s a daily driver!

I mean for example, Samsung galaxy version of android 12 with Material you I’ve seen on other websites another post things that their version of material you isn’t that great, and they’ve been trying to work hard at ironing out all their bags as well.

You didn’t read what I said and I’m not sure why you’re making derogatory comments but, as you wish.
I simply pointed out the difference between the two OS’s, both of which I use. It cracks me up that people take this personal.

I think that’s one of the pluses of the Pixel line, getting the true/best Android experience.

I was referring to those who get all blown up over issues when all OEMs and operating systems have issues and not a single one is immune. Ot wasn't about you or your post.
And the last sentence is about those who become drama kings and queens over it.
You are a few here whom I respect. So next time you want to jump on me keep that in mind.

Yes, I completely agree with you. I didn't want to directly say that before, but there is a huge difference in Android world of having the Samsung Galaxy phone, and OnePlus phone, a Motorola phone, and then Google's own pixel phone! The pixel experience is a none other. It really is a truest best Android experience you can get! And hopefully with the Pixel 6 series it'll get more popular and commonplace!

So, here's something really weird and odd that just happened on my pixel 5: during your current call I was just saying, when I swiped up to go to my home screen, I got that old school floating bubble as a shortcut to my current call screen... Just like how Google used to have it. I'm not quite sure why my Google phone app reverted back to that. What I had do was unregister from the Google phone beta program, uninstall the update, then re-register for the beta program, then reupdate the Google phone app and the Play store, then I tested app by calling a test number, and it went back to the new stop and I just want to mention that's everyone in reverted back to the old bubble style of the current phone call conversation for some reason.

I believe most of us have been in the position of spending a lot of money on an item and then having it not work the way it was intended or that we expected. It can be frustrating. I hope we can be here to help those people through their frustration to a better experience.
