OVERLY COMPLAINING? Believe me when I say I am also surprised since for the many years I have used Android this is the first time this BS has happened.

Visual voicemail does not work....
poweramp not working correctly, but at least it works.
Calls blacklist keeps closing
Google fit keeps closing
That's just to name a few.

AND ALL WERE WORKING LAST WEEK WITH NO PROBLEMS ON ANDROID 11.
IF THIS IS OVERLY COMPLAINING SO BE IT. HOWEVER, I WOULD HAVE TO THINK IF IT WAS HAPPENING TO YOU, YOU WOULD BE FIRST IN LINE TO COMPLAIN.

I won't even go into the design of the new OS cause that is subjective and some are OVERLY COMPLAINING, SOME AREN'T. I just figure that if google gave a damn about their customers (blind followers) they might give them a switch to turn back to previous display. Maybe give every one a way to revert back to previous OS level.

And I will say that some of these problems are due to the apps not being updated; however, visual voice mail is part of the software I believe. I can still access voicemail via Verizon; however, I have NO indications that voice mails have been left in some cases, and in some cases I get a notification that voicemails cannot be downloaded. Two different notifications at different times for different voicemails. THAT IS A BUG!

Have you tried a factory reset? Painful but at times necessary.

Yeah I completely agree with you! I'm really surprised at all these issues people are having as well they're just overly complaining! My pixel 5 is running absolutely fine!

My Pixel 5 is running fine also. It's the damn UI in 12 that everyone is (your words) "overly complaining" about. I have a list with 20 absolutely insane issues that should not be there. It's bad enough that Google weather is constantly playing hide and seek, ya can't even get rid of the clock/calendar on the home screen to free up space. You know, for something like a Widget, that actually works. Hey, I like playing Marco/Polo, just not with Googles Weather App.

Here's another one for you Eric. The little green light in the upper right corner that lets you know you're on a call. Like I don't know when I'm on a call, but I digress. Why can't they make that little green light blink on the lock screen as a notification, of calls and text, similar like they did back in the old days of Android. That blinking notification light has been talked about ever since they got rid of it. Yet they won't listen and put it back, at least as an option.

Don't get me started on the dual personality over/under clock on the lock screen. It's like I now have Sybil controlling it. Get a notification and, oh look, Sybil changed the clock back to what it was in 11. But just to let Sybil really tick me off, you can't get rid of the over/under clock. And clear the notifications and whoops, Sybil is back messing with the dang clock again. And put your Pixel 5 in a Pixel stand to charge it, and guess who's back? Yup Sybil has a third cousin.

Would you like to talk about wallpapers? Some have "Home, Lock Screen or Home and Lock Screen", as options, others only have "Home or Home and Lock Screen". And these aren't just live wallpapers either. You should be able to put any picture on any screen, and any combination you'd like, no matter where or what it is. It makes no sense that you can't. Heck I could do THAT, on my dang Nokia Icon running Windows 10 Mobile! Why the "Settings" difference between the different wallpapers?

And since I'm on a "Settings" rant, (nice segue) what's up with the half inch of dead air above the word "Settings" in the settings menu? You know, that screen space that could have been used for something useful like hmmmm let me think, oh I know, how about using that space for your favorites in "Settings". Now there's a novel idea! Or maybe a battery widget? Oh there's another idea. Or how about settings widget for things like Memory or CPU or storage space. But no, you can't do anything with that space. Just a half inch of dead air that you have to live with.

I could go on and on but I won't. Hopefully Google reads this forum and make appropriate changes. Oh snap, there's another idea, can I just have the UI from 11 back please?

TLDR; Android 12 is pretty much a rock solid operating system, with a User Interface that still belongs in Beta. And from other peoples comments, I'm not alone in my thinking.

I understand what you're saying. Without a doubt. For me though, Android 12's material you auto theming engine is beautiful. And listen everyone's different. There's no question about that. The little green dot on that top right of the screen to signify when you're microphone / cameras active takes a little getting used to, but iOS has the same exact thing. And yes both Apple, and Google copy each other for quite a few of these features at the end of the day.

As far as material you feming and Android 12, I personally love it. The design language is awesome, the customization is great, etc etc. In the beta program where there are a few frustrations and faults that **** me off? Well, sure. But I reported them as bugs and some of them got fixed and some of them didn't. Like I've seen previous posts, if your phone isn't vibrate mode there's no status bar symbol icon to signify that you're in vibrate mode. I left my phone in silent all mode a couple days ago work... I was wondering if my phone was actually broken while I wasn't receiving notifications. Oh, I was. I forgot that my phone was in silent mode. However, for this either bug, or design tweak that Google did, I had reported in the beta program numerous numerous times in Google never fixed it. So it is what it is I'm not going to keep on complaining about it though. There's no point in doing so. At least for me.

As far as widgets are concerned, I don't use that many widgets on my home screen. The only widget I use is the attic lens widget; I really hope just like we all do that Google fixes the calendar functionality of the added glance widget sooner than later. Other than that I really don't use the material you widgets all that much. In Android's earlier days of my Droid 1, I use a lot more widgets, but I've gotten used to just one home screen, and just acting on my notifications from my status bar notification shade. That's about it. Besides I have a digital clock in the top left of my screen what do I need a short cuff on the alarm clock for? You have to remember, I use Google Assistant on my phone religiously. Lol. With that being said, the most I can suggest anyone having these types of issues is to you keep on reporting them to Google. Who knows whether Google will actually act upon it, or not. But it is worth a shot at the end of the day.

trust me, I definitely understand frustrations with the OS especially in beta mode, but for the most part Android 12 OS unless I might fix a 5 is rock solid have no complaints whatsoever thankfully.

I updated to 12 and Google weather on the home screen disappeared. I did do a factory reset and it came back. Only to disappear once again.

Yeah, I don’t think a factory reset will be able to help the weather widget issue. That is some type of ingrained bug that google needs to release a patch for. But all the people with all the niggling issues from certain apps not working properly to other issues that are operational could very likely be helped by a reset.
My pixel launcher is working fine except for the weather problem but I generally use 3rd party launchers for the better customization features. My at a glance widget works on 3rd party launchers.

The at a glance widget on this particular launcher works perfectly. I'm not using it but I added it just to illustrate that it does work and looks correct. Also touching the calendar date gives me my calendar and touching the weather gives me the weather. So it is working as it should.

Yup same thing for me as well..

Have you tried a factory reset? Painful but at times necessary.

I have done TWO FACTORY RESETS. The day I loaded 12, and a day or two after I loaded 12.

Second reset was just a hail Mary; finding nothing else working. And battery is draining extremely fast, a heck of a lot faster than when I was on 11. Believe it is due to Visual Voicemail but only an assumption, no proof.

And to others (not you (cbreze) who believe that if there are not hundreds of people complaining that one person doing the complaining denotes a drama queen...wow people grow up. If some on this forum believe that all who have android phones and have problems come here to complain come down from the clouds. I bet not anywhere near 2 percent of android owners come here and less will post.

Many come here to read about current and future products but how many actually post?

So for one person complaining there could be thousands having the same problem. Per an article I read once, one estimate could be in the hundreds of thousands of number of Pixel 4s sold and how many posts are there on this Pixel 4 forum? Anywhere near 1000, let alone hundreds of thousands?

So, as with any software update, I can easily see over the design and live with it, and in time, might like it. But my problem at this time is with a few apps, that might possibly be the problem of the app designer not getting the fix in for the new OS; however, visual voicemail is one of those apps that are needed more than others and the battery starting to drain faster than a beer bottle in the hands of a drunk is not acceptable.

However, I believe I will move on and do what the majority of phone owners do and not complain, understand voicing my complaint on a site that is truly full of Pixel and Android fan boys/girls is a true waste of time. And just come and read the new info on new phones and software updates, etc., and never offer an opinion; which has till this update, been very favorable for the Pixel 4 series.

The pre loaded at a glance widget does not work correctly. No matter where I press the weather loads. When clicking on the date the calender use to load. Yes I can add the widget manually and it works but then I have the date and weather showing twice. I like using the stock launcher so looks like a bug can someone confirm?

I have 6 Pro coming next week so hoping it works on the 6

Ok, I never tried loading the widget on the pixel launcher so it would be on there twice. I don't care much for the pixel launcher anyway not enough customization options. But I do believe there will be a fix coming as to when no one knows, but it shouldn't be too long I wouldn't think.
Anybody who wants to can set up a third party launcher like Nova for instance and mimic the pixel launcher. So be like having the stock launcher only you're at a glance widget would work and you'd only have it on there once. Or just wait for the pixel launcher patch to fix the weather widget. I've always thought the pixel launchers biggest downside was not being able to either remove or move that at a glance widget

Being that it's broken the same for every Pixel right now (4, 4XL, 4a,5,5a,etc) I don't think it's gonna work any better on the Pixel 6 until Google releases a fix via an app update or Play Services update, etc.

now with the default coloring it has changed the tinting of my screen. it tints to whatever the default color scheme is.

I'm am thinking about getting the P6. But not if the screen colors are going to be jacked

That's the new Material You theming

A reminder popped up in my At a Glance widget, but it takes up two lines, and weather doesn't show. I was thinking that as long as it's taking the whole space across the top, it would show the reminder on the first line, and the weather on the second, but I guess not

Material theaming, has left my phone useless for pictures or video.
