Android 13 Beta 3

Tap to wake not working. Not sure when it started, possibly with beta 3.1 or 3.2. It works if screen has just been turned off, but if the screen has been off for a while, the power button is only way to turn on the screen. It was a known issue for those on the 12L beta. So far, Google has not acknowledged the bug nor provided a fix. Most annoying.

I'm on beta 3.2 and no issues here with tap to wake.

After some fiddling it appears to be working again this morning. Go figure....

They essentially added a virtual chin with this update. What's the point of gestures when you're going to dedicate a strip of screen, make it all black, and keep a constant navigation pill there? I thought gestures were meant to get rid of UI buttons.

Tap to wake did not work in 3.1, fixed in 3.2 and broken again in 3.3. Bug reported and logged.

Thanks for the info. It stopped working again. Maybe next beta will fix.

Any getting rid of this white line at the bottom? Is it new with the 13 beta? Don’t remember it from previous.

Nope. Get used to it for now. Or maybe use the beta feedback app to diss it.
Google thinks we want it.

It's there in 12 also. But smaller. Changes from white to black depending on the wallpaper.

FWIW, I sent feedback voicing my disgust, I surely am not the only one. I googled some info and it said it's there to remind us that we can access the assistant by swiping up from either corner. Geezus, how dumb is that? I'm glad they didn't put one on each side to remind us we can swipe right or left.
But turning off gestures gets rid of it, Geez Nice thanks goog

Interesting, I see no practical purpose for it.

It's your app switcher. Swipe your finger on the line and you can change last app or web page......

Thanks for that clarification. Now if they would just get rid of the line while leaving that function we'd all be happier.
