Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI22 latest build WITH IMAGE

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI05 latest build

The Star Tac was the last Moto phone I owned. I took my father?s upgrade and GAVE him my Epic. $99.00 @ BB! I will NEVER look back. So long Samsuck. I don?t really get you guys slaving away on the Epic to fix Samsucks mess. I stuck it out a year. It?s all I can stand. Let me tell you, after having the Photon for 3 days I feel like I am owed a letter of apology from Samsuck. If I had played with another phone for any amount of time I would have known just how bad the Epic radio really is. No wonder people (myself included) think Sprints signal sucks. I?m an airline pilot and I?m in 5 different cities in some days. It?s NOT Sprint. It?s these damn Samsuck radios in these phones. I can?t believe the difference in performance, but Moto has been building radios for a very long time. I will still be watching and waiting because my wife, daughter, and now father have the Epic, but I?m glad to be rid of it personally.

If you were relying on updates for your upgrade to be what you wanted to be, then that's your loss. I got the Epic, knowing it might not get a whole lot of support. The reason why I got it was for the hardware. The software isn't as big of a deal as I will just root the phone. Software is something you can change, hardware, not so much. On another note, I can't take you very seriously when you say 'Samsuck' every sentence (just sayin').

I guess I'm just old school. I've got to get over the idea that a company should support its product. Question; would it have been so hard for them to put out a radio fix? I mean the download speeds crawl on the Epic. Could they have at least fixed that one thing? I have to say. I really am pissed at Samsung.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI05 latest build

my download speeds have been sensational, even before I rooted, typically averaging 8-9 Mbps. My quadrants are nearing 1500 so I believe that if you have download problems, it may be your area, blame it on Sprint if you like but Verizon will cost you the price of a new SGII over a two year contract. I can live with spotty reception and believe me, in San Francisco, the 4G is spotty- you can walk a block and lose your connection. And, I can live with having to tweak my phone a bit. It's the polar opposite to my work day and it's fun. If you are not trying to make your phone better, why even come to these forums?

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI05 latest build

What I want to know is have any of the Gingerbread builds fixed having to do the horizontal calibration with the phone upside down?

If Samsung puts all that work into GB for Epic then at the last minute decides to *not* release a final build, it would not be good for them. Lots of backlash gonna happen from Epic owners.

People tend to talk about bad experiences longer and tell more people than they do about good experiences. Crazy that so many companies who do stupid things that irritate their customers don't seem to know that.

A few companies (like Apple) seem to have a "magic appeal" where no miss-step, no matter how bad, hurts them. Samsung doesn't have that.

Because, as I already said, I'm stuck now. I've moved on to the Photon, but I bought the Epic for my wife, my daughter, and myself (my father now has mine). You think you loved the Epic? I’m the guy that bought 3 of them. I learn all manner of tricks, tips and what cool apps are out there on the forums. Problem solving as well. There’s lots here other than just rooting. Maybe I’m just lucky Ted, but all three of our stock Epics have the same crappy download speeds. This is just a side note, but I was thinking, I have a Samsung 3D TV, and Blueray player that I LOVE. About every three months or so I go through the menu and check for updates. Sure enough there is always a update for one or the other. They update the heck out of the those, but the phones....... I don’t get it. The wife could all most care less, but the daughter gives me crap over download speeds, FC, poor GPS, no GB AND no Mac support. That’s why I’m here Ted. Pretty much same as you. If the phone had been all that and a bag of chips, why are you having to root?:(

Strange, when I plug my epic into my Mac, it immediately senses it and I can put music and files on it.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI05 latest build

so.... they are "going to" make another build on monday september 5....
ok, so at this point i ran out of patience. i flashed my epic to stock back in late june in anticipation of gb update. because of the leaks and such i was thinking it shouldnt be too long before the official one finally comes. and now my patience has ran out. so i would like to ask you all my fellow epic owners. which is the BEST leak for me to flash right now.... or maybe i should go with a custom rom? maybe syndicate frozen 1.2?

This is my opinion, if you want gingerbread stay with the most current as it WILL have more bug fixes than a previous release. BUT it is a leak and they are far from perfect. I say stick with EC05 roms if you want the stability and SRF 1.2 is the leader, still, in stability.

*There are rumors saying that the EPIC will not see an official gingerbread update until the end of October. After that the EPIC is dead in the water with updates.

I have tried all the GB leaks and the most stable one for me was EG22. Occasional random re-boots and BT problems seem to plague all the GB leaks but EG22 was the least problematic in my experience.

If you want to stick with a froyo custom ROM, I would recommend Bonsai 4.1.3 as the most stable. I have used previous versions of SRF without significant issues but SRF 1.2 did not get along well with my phone. You may have to try several ROM's to see which works best on your phone.

. That?s why I?m here Ted. :(

I get it. Honestly if it weren't for the screen, I would go elsewhere myself. Just trying to make the best of a bad situation. Truth is, if the iPhone 5 is on Sprint and it rocks, they might have a customer, and I HATE apple products.

Am in the same mindset you are Ted, I fell for the screen, and the continual promises of VIDEO calling from the Epic. And yes, before all you all ask, I've tried them all, and they all are terrible.

Epic has some seriously good stuff in it, no denying that. But it's the continued problems that Samsung/Sprint seem to be having rolling out software updates in a timely manner that really bug me about all of it.

I'm no Fruit Company fanboy, far from it. I can however, admit that their stuff just works. So yes, if the rumors are true, and I can keep the same plan I have now?, I'll be getting the Fruitphone5.

Come on sammy/sprint don't make me go.

a big +1.

First and foremost, all the video apps suck large.

While I am running EG22 fairly successfully, I have flashed three different modems to try and improve my radio signal and guess what. EC05, the one I started with, still works the best. What is up with that???

There is so much missing support-wise betw Sammy and Sprint from their devs and their lack of ability to produce clean stable operating systems (that are provided by Google in the first place, not like they need to build from the ground up! Somehow, other manufacturers manage to get them to run on THEIR phones), I just have faith that if I have an iPhone on Sprint, I would expect and get much better customer support. Then again, don't forget the antenna issue when 4 was released and all apple did was give customers cases. That's pretty lame and as for HTC and Moto, well their screens aren't even in the same ballpark.

Time for someone to turn us all into cyborgs and go with internal installation, we don't use but one fifth of our brains (even less for Sammy/Sprint devs), so clearly there's space.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI05 latest build

First of all... I love the fact I think I started this trend of the "fruit phone"..LOL.. PLEASE DON'T GO DOWN THE FRUIT PHONE ROAD.. I BEG OF YOU... STAY TRUE TO ANDROID EVEN IF IT MEANS TRYING A DIFFERENT BRAND DEVICE...

Concerning your modem changes... This falls under the same category as flashing a different kernel Ted. Not all devices are created 100% equal in mass production and each device handles kernels & modems (radios) a bit differently. You and I can have the same exact setups but your modem or kernel will probably run differently and give a different outcome between our devices. Just the way it is... Trial and error when it comes to changing the modem & playing with kernels.

FYI, some people still insist running the old Eclair 2.1 DI18 modem on Froyo and GB leaks with better results.. Just the luck of the draw... Its actually nice that these two things can be easily flashed/changed within a few minutes to experiment and find the best for your own device.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI05 latest build

Paul, believe me, I'd much MUCH rather not go down the fruitcoctail phone route. But the pragmatic side of me has seen how good facetime works, and how so far all the video programs for my Epic simply don't.

If samsung get their acts together with GB, and it works, and even more if I can finally have a video call program that functions, I won't be dropping my Epic, literally or figuratively.

Considering what I paid for the GS, two of them in fact, on the day they came out, I doubt I'll be laying out any cash anytime soon since I still have a year left on my contract. I will mutter and tweak the phone however I can to get the best performance out of it and watch as it slip slides ever further away from its once exalted flapship status towards the rapidly approaching 'turd in the hand' that is it's inevitable future. On a brighter note, it certainly doesn't stink as much as many other have and will be liveable. It does what I need it to do, most of the time. Even if I got a good video program, my wife rarely answers her phone when she's at work.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI05 latest build

wtf is taking so long. Last Samsung phone i ever get, i mean what makes u think samsung will support the GSII as well? It will take 4 years for the Epic Touch to get Ice Cream Sandwich or whatever the next big update is.....Nexus Prime ftw

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI05 latest build

Nothing good at all. Next leak is likely to be at the end of this month. Another rumor stating official gingerbread by the end of October if everything goes right.
