Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI22 latest build WITH IMAGE

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI21 latest build

I lived in Miami/Ft.Lauderdale and now in Tampa. My signal is quite stable most of the time. Good service. Don't know why these fluctuations occur but yes I've seen them - on a rare occasion. Running SFR1.2 and genocide kernel.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI21 latest build

I hate to say it, but I was feeling the same way about Sprint. Then I got my Moto Photon. Most all my signal problems went away with my Epic. I had to sit by a window in my house to talk. My Wife still has her Epic (that's why I'm still here), and she now hates the fact I can sit on the couch and talk and surf away. If you know someone with another sprint phone, you might want them to come to where you are and check it out. Epic radio sucks. The $99.00 Best Buy @ one year point was a blessing. Just a thought.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI21 latest build

Are there still those out there doubting that Sprint/Sammy is not working to get this out to us? Sounds like we going to have official GB real soon.... Whoo !

Ummm....Yea ??? We will NEVER see gingerbread officially on this phone.

I know what your thinking but at the same time Samsung would not have gone through the trouble of releasing and posting the official source code for Gingerbread for the Epic 4g. Seeing how the source has been officially released its just a matter of when they decide to actually put the OS update out.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI21 latest build

I have been reading alot about Gingerbread for my Epic 4g. I bought into it myself and was checking the web every day to see when Sprint was going to release it. Now, I am not so sure it would be that great.

I am just curious why you guys want it so badly.

My wife has the Galaxy S II, which is really cool. It has gingerbread. It has a really cool calendar widget that is a lot better than mine. it has Driving mode and Eco and different IDs and stuff. I want my phone to be that cool.

My son has an Echo, which got the Gingerbread update last week. Granted it's not my phone and I didn't play with it much before, but I'll be damned if I can see how it's any different than when it was froyo.

I was going to root and flash my phone this weekend so I could get Gingerbread, but then I realized that I might not get any of the cool things that my wife's phone has.

So, why do you guys want Gingerbread? What do you expect to be different?

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI21 latest build

paul how long did it take for froyo to be released or in samsungs history after the kernel was released a week two weeks a month?

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI21 latest build

Froyo's release for EB13 and the source code were within days of each other...

Why its taking so long this time around I'm not sure.... We have source... So I would believe Samsung has done their part doing the OS, the source code, etc.. now I think its sitting in Sprint's hands...

Sprint is broke (as in poor, no money), it's most likely a serious back burner item right now.

I seriously doubt Sprint is broke... I think they just need some better marketing strategies and new direction...

Kind of hard to say Sprint is broke when they are the main sponsor of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series... Thats some major cash that is poured in by NASCAR and I'm sure they see a good return on it in phone sales... NASCAR isn't everyones cup of tea, but at the same time it is big, its on major channels with big coverage and support so its not a small change venture they are apart of there...

Not to mention to buy into the Fruit phone and now upgrading to LTE in the future... There is money there, its just tied up in a few big things... They will benefit from the Fruit phone down the road in sales and its no doubt once LTE is up and running, if its near or the same quality as Verizon they should see a upward climb.....

Plus if you look at devices like the Photon, EVO's, the Epic 4g and the NS4G and now the SGSII its not like Sprint has pushed out bad devices.....

I recently sent an e-mail to dan@sprint.com regarding the Epic update. The representative from the Executive Services office basically indicated they were waiting for Google to make the update available and give it to Samsung. It would seem to me that Google has already made it available given that they have moved on to ICS now. The priority of Samsung seems to be just releasing new phones and abandoning support for existing phones. It took at least 6-8 months to go from 2.1 to 2.2, and it's been at least that same time frame since 2.2 was released. So, why can't Sprint/Samsung just simply provide a status update instead of putting out their "canned" message about how they can't speculate when it will be released due to the fact it may cause confusion?

I talked to a tech today. It is an official release soon as Samsung launches it.

As I understand it, based on speaking with a representative in Executive Services offices, Sprint is "waiting on the green light" to launch the update. I think this "green light" is to come from Samsung. With the Galaxy SII released, what reason is there to hold back the update for the original Galaxy S?

In going through the forum posts over at Sprint, there have been discussions as far back as April with a forum moderator stating there was a rumor the update would come out at the end of April. Why does it need to take 8+ months to get an update out? It would seem that the update is ready to go, but it's being held back for some marketing/competitive reason.

I'm not really sure if it comes down to marketing issues... Obviously from anyone that followed the many leaks and flashable builds that we had there were some big issues that needed to be overcome and eventually they were resolved for the most part.

I really want to believe Sammy/Sprint took their time to get it right because I think this is going to be a "one shot only" deal when they release GB.... Unless something goes horribly wrong with the update I think whatever they put out is it, final as in no further updates.

I would like to note recently Android Central and others posted that Samsung had released the official source code for the Epic 4g and Gingerbread. If you were to look now its been pulled.. Why? We have no idea but one would hope that they updated the final source again and will post it when the GB release is ready.

So until we get word, as usual were in a holding pattern...

LOL! I knew it! There is an announcement that this phone is finally getting the update and we still get people complaining about it. geeezzzzuuuzzz, take a deep breath and relax guys.

Very interesting... So Sprint is still testing builds of GB... Version 2.3.6, I might add too...

Heck kick me in the butt, but it looks like the Epic may still see another update at some point...
