Just didn't fix present problem. Filling it up and deleting did fix it :) I didn't know about the second step at the time.

I can confirm this, it feels like new again! :-)
All we need now is someone with patients that can test the "wait and see"-approach. hehe

From the looks of this, no one has actually gotten this update via OTA. Everyone here that has it seems to have downloaded it on their computers from the Google links and side loaded it or whatever, not OTA...

I was on the phone with Google Nexus 7 tech support yesterday for an unrelated issue and mentioned the update to him. He immediately said, "The only OS version we have at this time is 4.1.1. There has been no OTA release of anything higher." So Google's own tech support have not been briefed on this or it hasn't "officially been released to the public via OTA". The tech support rep was incredibly knowledgeable and fixed my very vexing and troublesome problem so I'm inclined to believe him...

I think Google is pushing the links for devs to get their hands on it but not pushing the OTA to any real customers... yet... or they are doing it incredibly slowly pissing off the customers that really want and need this update like myself to deal with the damn 16GB bug that my unit is plagued with! Grr! :banghead:

I refuse to side load! I bought this device over other devices PRIMARILY FOR TIMELY/FAST OTA'S DIRECTLY FROM GOOGLE! And not be bothered with side loading, hacking, custom ROMs, 3rd party cobbled together solutions to have the latest OS and bug fixes! This is exactly what I DONT want! Waiting days, week, months for a simple bug fix that has been plaguing and crippling my 16GB unit!

As you can tell, I'm frustrated and pissed. If this is how Google pushes out (nonexistent) OTA's I very well might be sending this POS complete with screen lift, washed out colors, wonky touch screen and slowdown issue (16GB) back and pick up a competitors product including an iPad Mini (if/when it comes out).

I only bought a Nexus to get fast and timely updates without the bullsh*t and this imaginary OTA is clearly bullish*t.

Bye

My OTA has just begun! :D

...and failed like my sideloaded one. I have rooted it and updated the drivers anyway, and I have the app to turn on homescreen rotation, so no big deal here.

Under "verifying Current System" I get "assert failed" , and It says there's an error in the .zip and "(Status 7)". All likely due to my rooting and tinkering. It works more than fine, and I have it configured the way I like it, so no reason to update it yet.

Just got and installed the 4.1.2 OTA update, in the San Francisco Bay Area.

To those whining that a full day had passed since the announcement without getting the OTA.... OMG!! There are some roses outside. Go smell them instead of complaining about Google and continually pressing the check for update button.

So the 16GB-slowdown issue IS fixed with this update?

If so, hallelujah! My N7 has been crawling.

"Fast and Timely" includes, as a general rule, the concept of a staged rollout that might take a few days.

This is compared to, say, my Thunderbolt on Verizon, which got Gingerbread well over a year after it went live, and more than 6 months after it was originally promised. We're still waiting on an Ice Cream Sandwich build that was originally promised for August, and no word from anyone as to when, or even IF, that will ever happen.

But if a few days behind actual development of the fix is too slow for you and being a 0.0.1 release back for a week or so is unacceptable, I don't think even Apple is going to make you happy. I'd send it back and buy a device that doesn't require updates, like perhaps an Etch-a-Sketch. :D

It's a shame you live on the other side of the country from me. Because I really want to invite you out for a beer. I have a feeling we'd get along famously. We could read some of the self-entitled whines on our Nexuses together and have a good laugh.

Irony points, of course, if one of us drops ours and shatters the screen and we start discussing how Google owes us a new one for making it too portable. (grin)

Umm, this was a pretty fast and timely update after its announcement. Be thankful the nexus 7 doesn't have a carrier. If this was att or Verizon branded, after Google announced this release and update, it'd go through att and Verizon testing and take anywhere from 3 months to 6 months to get the damn update.

So quit whining. It was announced Tuesday and most people are finally getting it today. Pretty quick roll out if you ask me. Here's hoping they somehow accidently skip over your serial number on your device for an OTA.

I think "most people" is a pretty big assumption, given that all you have to go on is that a handful of people here have said they've gotten it.

Don't you think slamming someone for a rant that happened BEFORE even one person in the forums got the OTA is a little harsh?

On a somewhat small incremental update (from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2) why is a "rolling" update even necessary? Aren't there enough servers to push this update out without issues? I just don't understand the logic. Forgive me as I am new to the Android community. I've never experienced this before on other devices. I'm really enjoying my new Nexus 7. I went 16 gb as recommended by Bla1ze.

Can't we all just get along? Come on frustrated users, calm down. How can you say that your update is not coming timely when it's only been 48 hours since announcement? Some people really need to exercise some patience and realize the bigger picture. That bigger picture being that there are thousands of variables and millions of users that go into even the most minor of software updates. God forbid you aren't first on the list within minutes. It's as if you think that just because the update hasn't hit you yet that your N7 has suddenly become unusable. It's just as usable as it was the day before anyone knew 4.1.2 was coming. So calm down. There's a world outside, please take the time to enjoy it instead of getting so upset.

Obviously, that rant above is not directed at everyone. Just certain users (I'm sure you know who you are). And to anyone who may point out my post on the first page and claim I'm one of the impatient ones, clearly you didn't notice the joking undertone of what I posted. :)

On another note, I just got my OTA. So nanny-nanny-boo-boo. Stick your head in doo-doo. :-*
