Android 4.4.3 for Verizon HTC One M8??

After reading what you said about Chrome I loaded it up, opened a bunch of Web pages, and a bunch of new tabs, and so far I can't get your problem to occur on my m8 with its copy of Chrome. Perhaps something else is at play on your system. Do you have any plug-ins or jet pack installed? Is it happening to you with both wifi and mobile data?

No plugins, and don't know what jet pack is, so guessing no on that too. I've seen it happen on both mobile and Wi-Fi. When I was on 4.4.2, the original Chrome on it never had any problems. One of their updates in Play introduced it while still on 4.4.2, so I had uninstalled the updates. On a related note, every Chrome update introduced a bug, or changed functionality in a way I didn't like, so I always kept going back to stock.

Another issue I've seen is sometimes the double tap to zoom and double tap-hold to manually scroll the zoom in and out with one finger (like on Maps) likes to stop working on the new version. I notice it mostly on Facebook but on other sites as well, and I have to actually pinch-zoom to adjust the page until I exit out. I think it has something to do with using a text entry box.

I know this isn't really an OS problem, but sometimes carriers and manufacturers need to leave well enough alone.

I still haven't been able to get it to occur. Is your Chrome version 37.0.2062.117? How about the javascript version it lists for you - is it V8 3.27.34.15? In Chrome -> Settings -> about chrome it lists an executable path /data/app/com.android.chrome-2.apk maybe if you replace that file with an older version and either run the apk, or try rolling back with it replaced maybe it will go back to the older version. It also has a profile path in that screen. Perhaps try backing up your bookmarks and replace it with a fresh profile, and see if that makes a difference.
I'll experiment with Map and see if I can recreate that issue.
I don't use Facebook, so I can't be of any help to you with that.

I would also argue the updated Chrome is also a downgrade due to new bugs that didn't exist in the factory stock version. If they at least gave us the file browser, I'd be ok.

Can't speak to that one. I don't use Chrome. But the file manager would make things better.

One nice thing I did just notice has to do with public Wi-Fi access. When connecting to that requires agreeing on a portal page to get access, it used to just pop up a sign-in notification at the top. It seems now it'll open a makeshift browser window to load said page automatically. When you click the agree/login button, it disappears and you go back to whatever you were doing. It's not a Chrome tab, it's just a basic window.

I don't know if it'll do this all the time, or if it depends on what you're doing at the time because this was the first time using a public hotspot since the update. I was browsing the AC forums app when it connected and then the window popped up on it's own.

Annoyance solved and problem found, quite possibly due to the update. I can no longer watch videos at 1080p on the YouTube app (tested with several videos shot at 4K), on the other hand, I now can increase or decrease the volume, without the drop down options or nav keys popping up. Anyone else come across this slight problem?

I haven't tried watching anything I know should have a 1080p option to test, but I can now select the resolutions available and it'll stick

Anyone get this screen when turning on EPS? :

WTF??

Yes! I had the same exact expression! "You are currently recording voice and will be unable to stop it..." WTF!?

I didn't get that notice, but I also don't use Google Now and its voice recognition stuff for searching. That may be why.

Like Mooncatt I don't use Google Now or any other voice recognition software, and like him I haven't encountered that message.

What apps do you guys have running in the background or foreground when you launch EPS?

I just tested this by going into the Google app's voice settings and turning "Ok Google" detection on. I then activated EPS and got the recording warning. Turned the detection back off and the warning went away.

So there you go.

Verizon has 4.4.3 a a available
 What were you trying to say? A version "A" of 4.3.3.? Not that I see. The Verizon 4.4.3 update (released on 7/27/14) was named HTC6525LVW_1.55.605.2-1.12605.11_R3
It contains Android 4.4.3, HTC Sense 6.0, and is software number 2.21.605.2

The update just hit my wife's phone? Anyone notice any other bugs before she updates?
No problems here. The things we've noticed since the update include:
Facebook for HTC Sense can no longer be disabled
People using Google voice and EPS get a Voice Recorder warning
Mooncatt reports buggy versions of Chrome and Maps after the update, but I have been unable to reproduce the issues on my phone.

And no 1080P video option on the YouTube app.

Interesting. I wonder if if that is the app itself that is the problem, or if the 4.4.3 update causes the phone resolution to be mis-detected. The best way to test that out would be for someone still on 4.4.2 to go to Google Play Store make sure their YouTube app is the most up-to-date version, launch the YouTube app, either load up a known 1080p video from the site or search for a video and use "1080p" in the search entry. I'd also be interested to hear from people with non-HTC phones running 4.4.3 that support 1080p video playback and hear if their YouTube app is limiting them to 720p video as well.
If we can rule out the Youtube app version being an issue then we can point it out to HTC and Verizon, but if all 1080p capable phones have the issue with the most recent app version then we should bring it to YouTube's attention instead. (There was a new YouTube version put out on the Play Store as of yesterday that is supposed to fix bugs, but this doesn't look like one of them). In the meantime at least accessing the YouTube website (desktop version) in an m8 Internet browser still allows for 1080p selection. :-\
