Android 5.0.2 OTA

Got yesterday. Battery life is excellent (it had actually improved in 5.0.1) and seems slightly faster overall.

I received mine today. Given the disasters many people experienced with 5.0 and 5.0.1, I think I'll wait and see what others have to say before I upgrade. There's nothing in 5.0.2 that I feel I really need; 4.4.4 works fine for me. But if 5.0.2 turns out to be a winner, I'll almost certainly install it.

I'm curious about how the 5.0.2 update is on the 2013 Nexus 7
Are all of the lollipop kinks finally worked out with the 5.0.2 update, and does it run as good as old reliable 4.4.4?
Did you guys do a factory reset before or after updating?
Has anyone compared battery life and benchmark scores of before and after?
Thanks for feedback :)

Yep I'm gonna wait and see if it turns out to be a winner too. Seems the best way to do it. If it disappears like the last update so be it.

Honestly I think we learned from this that google doesn't just take the update away if you don't install it right away, but rather the update was pulled and replaced with 5.0.2. At least that's what I figured out from these threads.

Moral of the story: if its truly a winner and worth installing it will be there waiting in the notification bar when you decide to do so.

To those who updated: Does the update reset all your home screens and customization etc.?

I know previous updates haven't but I think I remember reading somewhere that since this was a major update it would reset everything.

My wife and I both have the Nexus 7, and both updated to 5.0.2 tonight. Mine had the original update that disappeared before I could load it. Both are working fine. I had the "an application needs updating" bug, but it disappeared after several apps updated themselves.

So, has anyone else found that this made the device far less usable? I live with 2 others with nexus 7, and relatives with a whole host of android devices. It keeps crashing. The system, chrome, fb; hell, even reporting a crash managed to crash. Not doing anything particularly intensive. Device is not rooted or anything contrary to ideal usage. And it is sooo bleeping laggy.

It looks nice, more user friendly and such, but the crashing makes it far less usable than 5.0.1.

I sideloaded yesterday, going from 5.0.1 to 5.0.2, and so far have had no problems. Caveat: 5.0.1 was OK on my 2013 N7, too. But no crashes, seems slightly snappier than 5.0.1, and battery life has been good. I did not reset but I did do a wipe of the cache partition after the update. There was no data loss doing this update.

You could try doing a wipe of the cache partion:

But it sounds like you may have to do a factory reset and rebuild it.

I updated my N7 from 5.0.1 tonight and nothing has changed, layout wise. I've got my Dad's N7 we got for him off of Groupon for Xmas with me as well (I'm tech support for most of my family) and that updated from straight from 4.4.4 to 5.0.2. The only thing that changed was the stock gallery from KK disappeared, which I expected since they dropped that app in favor of the Photos app. But otherwise everything is the same.

What I have seen is that widgets like weather load almost instantaneously, where before they would take around 15-20 seconds to load. So definitely enjoying that. I haven't had much time to play around with my N7 while it had 5.0.1 on it (due to holiday and other guests), so far it seems stable. I haven't seen what they changed from 5.0.1 to 5.0.2, and with that update only being 9.8mb, I imagine it isn't much. I'm curious to see what LP on my Motorola phones looks like, and how they act afterward.

Both of my 2013 WiFi N7's have updated to 5.0.2 with NO problems at all so far. Neither of mine had problems on 5.0.1 although the battery seemed to drain a little faster on 5.0.1. Have never done a factory reset upon updating the OS but cache partition wipe is done regularly.

Just got the 5.0.2 OTA upgrade today. I have not installed it. I will wait.

Just got it OTA. Only ten minutes in, but seems like the apps are all working. First impression: Animations seem a little smoother than 5.0.1 (only noticeable diff).

I just got 5.0.2 two days ago and it's working fine. Slight improvements. I didn't have any problems with 5.0.1; it worked fine and I liked the improvements over 4.4.4.

Just got mine in Florida USA, and everything went fine..Took about 15 minutes but after that everything seems as it was..
Was good before and so far still is..
Goodluck
