Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the Moto X (2nd gen)

This makes me glad that I decided to pass on the 2015 version. Updates were always a big draw to Moto for me, and this looks like a big step backward in their system.

At this point, there isn't anything on the Android flagship list that I would buy, and that' a damn sucks. Probably the first time in 5 or 6 years that I don't buy a new phone.

This makes me so glad I bought the Moto X Pure Edition. I hate carriers, their stupid contracts, their termination fees, their bloatware, their lack of updates, and how everybody happily lets them rob them. I went carrier free three years ago and I've never looked back.

I'm rocking a Moto X Model XT1095 with Cricket Wireless $35/month and I'll let you guys know when I get Android M. ;)

I will never buy a carrier phone again. I have owned my Pure Edition 2014 Moto X for almost a year now and still love it. Took a while for me to adjust to the bigger screen. :)

I think Google should stop carriers from having carrier branded Android phones period.
I get manufactures having their own modifications to Android but I don't think carriers need to put crapware on top of that.
Luckily I got the pure edition when I picked up the moto x.

I wish Samsung would lead on this. On the Android side they have a big enough market share and customer base that carriers would have to play nice. Honestly don't know why they carry the extra expense of making and supporting carrier variants.

I know. I just don't see why carriers sell iphones with no extra bloat-ware but they won't sell android phones without adding all that crap.

Goes against the openness of Android.

Because Apple has the market clout to say no to the carriers + they're hyper-controlling about user experience (read "imprisonment"). IMO on the Android side Samsung could exert similar clout. It would be pretty much untenable for carriers to not sell/support Samsung products.

So apparently, Lollipop has been rolling out to the 2nd gen Moto X since November 12th. Has anyone actually received the update? I have the 2nd gen Moto X purchased through google and currently on Net10 and have not received the update as of yet.

Update 2: It's time to unwrap: Android 5.0, Lollipop is here - The Official Motorola Blog

That's from last year. Lollipop has been available on the Moto X 2014 for a long time, now. We still don't have word on 6.0 (Marshmallow) availability, other than it's coming. Maybe this month, maybe in January, but Soon[SUP]TM[/SUP].

Marshmallow is coming to Verizon? That would be great if true.

I'm pretty sure that it's not coming to US carriers fit Moto X 2014 and don't get me started on the fact that there still is no advanced calling.

That's funny. My 2014 64Gb Pure Edition arrived today. I ordered it a little over a week ago to use as a backup to my 2015 Moto X Pure Edition and when I want a smaller phone. I also still have my 2013 and still love and use it but it has the issue where it optimizes all of the apps every time I turn it on, which is not the worst thing in the world but is annoying. However, I probably won't use it much anymore since the 2014 just arrived and that is a smaller screen to me as well as being thinner and lighter than my 2015 PE.

Really enjoy all my Moto X's though.

Here in the UK I got my Marshmallow update for my X 2014 this morning. Seems to be working fine.
