The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, commonly known as Sacré-Cœur Basilica, is a Roman Catholic church and minor basilica, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in Paris, France. A popular landmark, the basilica is located at the summit of the butte Montmartre, the highest point in the city. Sacré-Cœur is a double monument, political and cultural, both a national penance for the defeat of France in the 1871 Franco-Prussian War and the socialist Paris Commune of 1871 crowning its most rebellious neighborhood, and an embodiment of conservative moral order, publicly dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which was an increasingly popular vision of a loving and sympathetic Christ.
The Sacré-Cœur Basilica was designed by Paul Abadie. Construction began in 1875 and was finished in 1914. It was consecrated after the end of World War I in 1919.

Its a photo of a 15th century step well on the outskirts of an upcoming metro city, the fifth largest in my country, India. One of the earliest and carved entirely out of stone, these wells are famous to be earthquake resistant and have legends of war stories attached to them.

The pillars in the Sanctuary Notre-Dame de Foy support the famous ceiling made of 145 panels of oil paintings depicting scenes from the life of Mary and portraits of saints.

Lost my wallet the other day while at school here in NYC. My friend decided to take me out to drown my sorrows in wine at Le District as we came up the escalators of a tunnel we walked through, we were met with these pillars. They arent classic, but pillars none the less. I found them amazing and the reflection in the glass and the light of the World Trade Center and the memorial outside help as well.
I took this picture while on a trip to Guadalajara, Mexico. I traveled alone so I spent most of my time taking photos. This was taken with my very old HTC Droid Incredible. This was one of my favorite places in the city. Hope you guys like it.
For my entry I submit this picture taken from the high school in my home town of Greenfield, Ohio. It's an epic school that just celebrated its 100th anniversary. Taken and edited on my Galaxy Note 4 using Pixlr.
