Neidermeyer: You're all worthless and weak! Now drop and give me twenty!

Neidermeyer more or less sums up my thoughts on the Droid X.

Every other phone is worthless and weak when compared to the X.

The Droid X is: [insert awesome word here].

I enjoy my current Droid, but what they have done with the X is take away all the stuff that was not up to par and put in a whole list of new and exciting features. (For a list of those, you can easily read this article.)

5 months before Christmas, a contest was held

An excited "Hell Yeah!", I loudly yelled

My wife walked in the room, to see what was up

She saw me staring at the monitor, and clinching a cup

She said, "You've lost your mind, this time I know it."

I pointed to the screen, I just had to show it

I took a sip from my cup, still staring at the screen

I said, "That's the Droid X, do you know what that means?"

A 4.3 inch screen, a size to envy

An 854 by 480 resolution, that's more than plenty

A 1 Gig OMAP powers this beast

Plus a dedicated Graphics chip, to say the very least

8 Gigs of space inside with 16 on the back

512 Megs of RAM to keep the memory on track

An 8 Megapixel camera with dual LEDs

And with a screen this size, picture taking will be a breeze

It shoots 720p video, that's pretty wild for a phone

Connect the HDMI out to show the videos full blown

A voice mic on the front, a speakerphone on the back

Plus a noise-canceling mic right next to the jack

Running Android 2.1 with 2.2 soon to show

The JIT compiler will make this Baby go

It's got MotoBlur or MotoNinja, whatever they want to call it

It's seriously improved, so I don't have to fault it

7 home screens, I'll find a use for them all

Resizable widgets, if they're too big, I'll make them small

It's got a multi-touch keyboard, it's also got Swype

I'll probably stick to the multi, I prefer to type

A bunch of Apps preinstalled, some I'd probably never use

But the ones I would use, I'd certainly abuse

Then there's the Marketplace, too many Apps to list

One for pretty much anything, I think you get the gist

Look at the phone I'm using now, this damn clickable screen

To say it annoys is an understatement, I think you know what I mean

This is my chance to get away to a better device

When I saw Android Central's contest, I didn't have to think twice

So I'm going to enter this contest and hope that I win

It'll be my first Android, but what a place to begin

So you see my excitement, it's justified right?

My wife gave me a look, and just said, "Good Night."

I'm stepping out of the stone age after being with AT&T for almost 15 yrs. I will not buy an Iphone because I hate Apple and I truly think that the Droid X is hands down the best phone that is hitting the market. I travel a lot for work and one of the things that really draws me to the phone is its huge memory and the HDMI output. I love to watch movies and this will aloow me to plug into any HDMI TV in any hotel I stay at. This is the first time I've really considered a smart phone of this caliber and I'd like it to be the X.

Droid X is the best,
Bigger and better that the rest,
Not even the iphone can compete,
I'm textin and watchin movies at
720p,
On the airplane turnin heads wit my 4.3 inch lcd,
No holster needed fits skinny jeans, at dot4 inches slim as can be,
So keep your chin straps tight when I pull out my phone
Cuz Droid X drops jaws, like when I come off the dome

The DroidX is marks a new chapter in what an Android powered smartphone is capable of doing. It's amazing to see how so many different companies can pool their knowledge to deliver a device that truly has it all. With a gorgeous and large screen, customizable interface, unbelievable media playback capabilities, and an excellent network backing it up, the DroidX is a force to be reckoned with.

I think I should win this phone because I have been a huge fan of Android ever since i first heard about the G1. I think that if more people were exposed to the features of Android, they would realize how much catching up other smartphone OS's have to do, not only from a user standpoint, but from a development standpoint as well.

Winning a DroidX here would mean a lot to me.

Hottest Phone

. . . long long ago . . .
. . . in a galaxy far far away . . .
OK, so maybe it was just back in the early days of cellular phones; one company stood head and shoulders above the rest. That company was Motorola. Motorola was always the front runner in technology (anyone out there remember the StarTac line of phones -- I'd still be using mine if the Cell networks had not changed) -- then Motorola began falling by the wayside as the Smartphone, Blackberry, and iPhone grew in popularity. Then, along came Droid . . .

The Motorola Droid brought Motorola back to the front of the cellular race. However, quickly the HTC Incredible showed that it wasn't just a name -- it really is an Incredible phone. There wasn't nothing comparable to it (unless you bought one of those "fruity" phones) . . . until NOW.

The Motorola X should be called AMAZING! There isn't anything this phone doesn't do well. Besides all the cool internet and multi-tasking operations that consumers have come to expect from a "smart" phone it does one thing better than any other phone I've looked at in the last week -- it has crystal clear sound quality when you're making a call! I was fortunate enough to have my hands on a working model this week -- so of course I tested it out! Placing 3 calls to 3 different people while in a bowling alley all 3 commented on how AMAZING the sound was. "Sounds as if you're right next door" "When you start talking it cuts out ALL the background noise and sounds like you're in a quiet room" "How are you in a bowling alley and able to hear me?" These were some of the comments I received. Unfortunately I had to give the Droid X back to the Verizon Rep . . . but it proved to me one thing -- not only is this phone going to be blowing out the stores tomorrow -- but with good reason. It's not just the latest and greatest electric gadget to hit the streets . . . it's an AMAZING gadget! It has everything everyone will be expecting from a phone . . . lightning fast processor, screen resolution which I'd be willing to put up against the iPhone 4, very nice user interface (did I mention that my iPhone friends laugh at me because I'm unable to type on their phones without muttering under my breath? Simple texts take me forever) which I would rank right up there with Sense on the Incredible (The Incredible is the only touch screen phone I CAN use with ease) . . . and it has sound quality that must be heard to be believed!

If HTC is Incredible; Motorola now has an Unbelievable!

Welcome back Motorola . . . it's been too too long old friend . . .

I want it

...tell us why you think the Droid X is the hottest phone of the year...

War of the Words? What...LOL

Droid X is hands down the hottest phone of 2010.

Customization, the X is a part of the Android family, meaning even though the bootloader is locked the phone itself is still customizable. Unlike Steve JOBS lockedPhone, which the only thing you can do on the block as far as customization is have a different Home and Lockscreen...Yeah you're cool...

The X, just like any other Android phone can Multitask running multiple different apps at once, syncing all of your contacts to your email, even your SMS and MMS to your email, with the help of some 3rd Party Apps. Widgets paradise baby. I mean I love to add me some widgets its so cool, cuts down on really having to open up alot of apps like texting, facebook the list goes on. Widgets makes the use of the phone more enjoyable and easy, including the fact the X has dedicated Motorola Widgets that are, again, customizable down to the size of the widget and if I am correct which social network you want connected to the widget. Oh and lets not forget the ability to RUN FLASH when the Froyo 2.2 update comes to the X; with that huge :COUGH: i mean massive 4.3 inch screen streaming shows like the OFFICE, over the internet, while I am at the office will be amazing. Lets see the Droid X competitors top that...yeah right they are just now getting Multitasking...HAHAHAHAHAHA:D:D:D

Keyboards Multitouch and Swype built in i mean how much easier can a phone with no "Physical" Keyboard make texting?

Let's see...Users still have MORE control over the X? Users can change the tasks of the Homebutton, to open up anything from the dialer all the way to the camera, SWEET. And the OH the performance of the battery? Having this phone will be just like have dare I say it a laptop, especially because it has a Graphics CHip. GAMING x10000<===LOL

The Droid X has 8gig on board memory so not having an SD card is... well um ok, but no need to fear just like the original Droid, we get a 16GIG microSD, off the back we are getting 24gigs. Droid has the capability of housing a 32gig microSD...40 gigs of possible memory usage...WOW..>SMH That means Movie, Music, Pictures and video recordings that your heart oh so desires.

Constituting the fact the Droid has such a big screen means this phone will be fun to watch movies. The screen isnt half the fun 8 Megapixel camera, higher than the 5 Megapixel standard. 720p HD video recording, which calls for a miniHDMI port, so you can watch your recordings on an HD TV if you so desire... Wait then does that mean...I can display the phone on my TV just for the heck of it...we will see. Thats if i can find a miniHDMI port.

The DROIDX will be bar-none "not" the Hottest phone of the year...BUT of the Decade, because its on the Fastest and most reliable network....VERIZON! all of its hardware features that cant really be found in another phone at this moment, wont probably see till 2011...which is the next decade of course. Its running on Android 2.1, and is already fast. Imagine how fast and well it will perform when Froyo hits the scene for the X. Oh and since it is on VZW, and it has tethering capabilities...I wonder how fast my laptop will run compare to all the other people using other networks and the WiFi at Starbucks...I dub the DROIDX hotspot capability X-Fi<=pretty catchy?...corny?...IDK LOL

so lets see hmmm Math Review:

{(Customization+MultiTasking+FLASH+Syncing+3rd PartyApps+Widgets+8gig onboard Mem+Up to 32gig miniSD support+[Amazing MultiTouch*Swype]+Battery Control+1GHz+Graphics Chip+[8 MegaPixel*720p HD recording]+miniHDMI port)*(Android 2.1+Froyo)+X-Fi}/VerizonWirless 3G=Hottest Phone of the Year (Decade)

A lot of people are focusing on Motorola X's outer beauty (darn superficial people haha j/k)... I'm going to focus on her inner beauty.

One reason why I want the X so bad is for the Psuedo-Motoblur UI. It's a little more stylish that Vanilla Android but not going overboard as does the Sense UI. 7 screens, re-sizable widgets, and nice software features (FM Radio, DLNA, etc) are things I would love in my outdated Android phone.

Another reason why I'd want the Droid X? If its benchmark tests put it close to the top with Android 2.1... I can't imagine how fast it'll be with 2.2.

Last but not least... having that dedicated graphics chip... making graphics on games smooth like cocoa butter.

Thanks for the contest!

My biggest reason for wanting the Droid X...to get off my BB Storm and free me. Plus ita new environment and a promising one.

This will be my first android phone (coming from two years of owning the iphone 3G and iphone 3Gs). I've been following all the news on this phone since the leaked shot of the one found in the gym and I am super excited. Cant wait to see the difference in the OS and the Android Market Place compared to Apples walled garden philosophy. Thanks!

My wife and I got sick and tired of our iphones, ios 4.0 is more of the same BORING! experience. Android is such a breath of fresh air, its new and exciting, Its just like the old days during the desktop PC power wars. I cant wait to contribute to the Android community.

Here's the thing. My contract with at&t ends next month, and I'm in love with ANDROID. Ever since I saw the very first DROID commercial (the one where some Nighthawks shoot pods down to various places in the U.S and the pods open up revealing the DROIDs) I was hooked. Soon after I got DVR and, literally, was recording every DROID commercial that showed up on T.V. I just loved Verizon's marketing of DROID (it's that DROIIIID voice!), and still do. Anyway, When the BACKLIP came out I was really dissapointed (not because I can't install 3rd party apps, that doesn't bother me) because of it having a small display, ANDROID 1.5, and an old CPU. But, in my desperate need for ANDROID on at&t I upgraded to the BACKFLIP and had it for only two weeks. It kept freezing and sporadically opening apps and selecting on its own. I took it back and kept my upgrade. I went to see the Aria and really liked it. It's all of ANDROID 2.1 and HTC sense goodness packed into this awesome tiny design (the inside is yellow!). But the small display wouldn't let me text and (thinking ahead here) the fact that the 600MHz CPU and 3.2 inch display won't support Gingerbread made me reconsider. So, I decided to just end my contract and go to Sprint for the EVO 4G. Then the DROID X came out. I was pretty much having to decide between jumping to Srint for the EVO, to Verizon for the DROID X, or staying at at&t and getting the Captivate. They are all expensive, but I eliminated the Captivate from my list because of the lack of flash on the camera and the build quality. I know the Hummingbird CPU is the best for gaming, but I can't have a plasticky feeling phone or one without a camera flash. Then onto the EVO. I honestly don't care for 4G (it kills the EVO's battery anyway) and a front-facing camera doesn't really do me much good. Again, the build quality, the EVO is all plastic. Point is, Motorola makes really good quality handsets. They feel top-notch, luxurious even. I know the DROID X is massive (and I have thought of that as an issue) but it's also narrow and thin, my hands are big, I know I can handle it. What hooks me to the DROID X is the build quality (tough plastics with matte-finish metal, I think), ANDROID 2.1 (I actually like this variaiton of motoblur, it's very DROID-esque), and the FACT that it will get ANDROID 2.2 with flash support. Then there's the gaming and video recording. I know it's no Hummingbird cpu, but still, games on the OMAP 3630 are great as well as the HD video (according to Cnet, Engadget, Phonearena, mobiletechreview, and you guys). Android Central gave an EVO away a couple months ago, and I wasn't the winner. I'm really hoping you guys can help me out this time (Im using a Samsung SGH-D807, yeah I know). Good luck to all participants and let the ANDROID invasion continue to take over!

I have to say there is just something sexy and sophisticated about the Droid series on Verizon...they are definitely the Android phone of choice for James Bond, and the like. The gadget/tech-appeal of these phones is through the roof, and I have to say I would love to tuck one of these into my pocket for keeps ;)

Droid X

It's the iPhone 4 killer - and gets signalz anywhere!!!!

Plus, the uber-screen will let Avatar fans watch mobile video with better l33t-nees.

phone envy already

I got my Droid just a few months ago, and absolutely love it. But I'm already envious of all the new exciting models.
