Android Central's Free Droid X giveaway

Well after competing in the race for Droid X designate #18 today and missing it by a mere 4 minutes, I got to play with a phone they had onsite.

The shape of the phone is just amazing. It felt so natural to hold in my hand and up to my ear. The hump at the top for the camera is perfect.

The camera button IMO is placed a little to low n the phone but I guess its something to get used to. I have a 9530 and like the placement of the right convenience key for camera.

The screen is really big and beautiful. It displayed well in sunlight. I didn't get a video but just playing around with the phone and opening some apps, the screen was bright and readable.

The phone was fast. No lag what-so-ever when opening apps, swiping home screens, doing anything. Not much time was spent with the phone but damn it's fast!

I really liked the "NOT blur skin". Resizing and moving widgets is really easy and it's smart about it. Moving icons/widgets by itself is cool. The ability to jump to home screens with the panel at the bottom is really convenient too.

I will be picking one of these up this week. Most likely Friday since its payday.
It's a great phone. It's a phone I will be keeping around for quite awhile and it will be around for awhile.

Only thing I think it's missing it a forward facing camera but oh well. Still a great phone. Can't wait to play with one again!

What can I say, I can't give the best reason why I should have one. I can say I've never won anything in my life and if I do win I will pass my Incredible on for free to one of the great members at AC. Yes you can hold me to it!

The Droid X is the hottest phone of the year because it has the x-droidinary potential to cure my wife's curse of the BlackBerry. Although she thinks my Incredible is a fine phone --- Fine? I don't think so, it's Incredible by name! -- she finds prefers the portrait keyboard of her ancient Curve. I believe that the combination of the larger screen and Swype will capture her fancy and allow her to discover the wonder that is Android. She would experience cell phone Nirvana!

Oh, and one more reason the phone rocks? Our 2 year old daughter might want to play with her phone again! Now she hears, "No mommy, I want Daddy's phone!"

This is the only phone, after days of research, that has pulled me away from the iPhone. The hardware is fantastic and the biggest seller for me is the larger screen. I work overnights and being able to watch movies without squinting will be amazing.

Droid X is the hottest phone of the year because presumably it does not have an antenna design flaw and it doesn't rhyme with schmapple schmyphone.

I think its the best phone because of the 1 GHz OMAP proccessor because its faster than snapdragon but mainly becuase of the dedicated GPU that is super fast.

The hottest phone on the market. Front facing camera. Who needs it when this bad boy has so much more to offer. 4.3 inch screen, 8 mp camera and 720p video offers more than enough play time with this thing. The 1ghz processor and 512mb of ram doesn't hurt either. This phone is going to be super fast. With the addition of 2.2 in late august this phone will be unstoppable. I don't mind that it comes with 2.1. In fact, I prefer it right now. I'm going to have so much fun with this phone for the next month that 2.1 won't even be an issue. THEN when 2.2 comes out I'll have even more to rejoice about. This phone is a beast and finally motorola is going to unleash it on the world. Iphone? Who's that? Android is the best OS out there and Iphone just lost it's place as the top smartphone. Along with all those great features you still haven't scratched the surface of what this puppy can do. Mobile hotspot capabilities, a new revamped version of motoblur (which I prefer do to the social implications of the UI), the extreme web video capabilities and so much more. This phone will definitely set the bar for smartphones to come. Android is ready to take the mantel from Iphone. Their just giving Apple a chance to hand it over peacefully. Until then Google will just keep coming out with better and better phones (IF they haven't already topped themselves with the Droid X).

simple: hd recording, huge display, gonna be running android 2.1, 3 mics unlike apples 2 mics , and just overall hottest.

First of all i have to say that all i know about the Droid X I have learned from your wonderful website. I surf over every day to read up on the latest android news. and when i heard about the new motorola droid, i was very excited. Obviously the first thing that you notice is the beautiful display. The vibrant colors really stand out. It looks so amazing. but then i begin reading about the other features, and i really had to look away from the computer. my wife almost prohibited me from looking at pictures and reviews of this new device. I currently have a moto droid, which i had to use someone's upgrade to even get. so trying to get the X would be practically impossible. YOU have made my dream possible. This phone is the future. How can you go wrong. Motorola+Android+Verizon= are you freaking kidding me> i must have this phone!!!

Well, at first I was a nay-sayer towards the Droid X. But the more I thought about the Droid X, the more it appealed to me. I really like the screen size and powerful processors. Android and Google can't be beat and I have always had good luck with Motorola phones. But if a picture is worth a thousand words, then I think the real reason why it is so hot and why I need it can be summed up with this:
