Because the internal CPU is much faster plus you have HDMI out and 16:9 video ratio true wide screen : )
I like the fact that it has a great processor, HDMI out, and a Mobile WiFi Hotspot! What else can you want?
Why is the Droid X the hottest phone? Simple.
1. It's a touch screen, no slide out keyboard.
2. HUGE screen.
3. There was actually a marketing strategy for it. (scavenger hunt, "accidentally" shipping some.)
4. Great specs, processor, camera etc.
5. It's Motorola. They make great phones. (Razr and Original Droid anyone?
6. You can hold it and not be worried about dropping a call.
7. Last but not least. It is not a Steve Jobs intentionally made to be obsolete so you have to purchase the next one, Apple Iphone.

I have suffered with AT&T for far too long.
After dragging their feet on releasing an Android phone for so long, AT&T came out with the craptastic Motorola Backflip. I was less than impressed.
I found out that they would be releasing the HTC Aria; a great improvement over the Backflip, but still crippled by AT&T's ban on non market apps and tethering. Wanting to see what else was coming down the pipe from Ma Bell, I decided to grin and bear it with my dumpy old Palm Treo sans data plan and wait for the arrival of the Samsung Captivate.
The Captivate looks like a great phone, but lacks a flash, front facing camera, and - OH YEAH...ACCESS TO NON MARKET APPS!!!
Please help me give AT&T the boot. My contract is up, but my wife's (on my family plan) doesn't expire until September. The money I save on the Droid X can go toward her early cancellation fee so we can switch to VZW and live happily ever after in open source bliss!

It's a motorola, nice big screen and fast....what more do you need...oh and yes it is an android as well...

A Beautiful 4.3-inch display,Intuitive, full-featured software, possible 2.2 Froyo software, the Droid X is going to be the signature phone for Verizon & one of if not THE phone of the year! The big Red Machine definitely has Another Milestone (Pardon The Pun) on it's hands!

It's the hottest phone this year because it's darn sexy. It has great specs, and it appears to have a nice build quality.
Probably one of the most well spec'd Android phones to date with a dedicated 3D processor. This will be one of the best gaming phones available. Especially with the huge 4.3" display. Very nice indeed...
