Android or Samsung Pay?

I'm getting slightly annoyed with my S3 Frontier watch that SP tells me in a notification that the store I'm at including name and address accepts Samsung Pay

Does Frontier have some setting you can turn off that "overly helpfulness"?

What I meant, was, any place that I have been shopping in that has the chip reader tell me that sliding the card won't work. Even when I try it any way, the "machine", "tells"me that I have to insert the chip.

Yes, it'll work. It's encoded in the magstripe of the card that tells the pinpad that there's a chip. When you swipe the pinpad gags. Samsung Pay doesn't send the chip indicator.

Don't have either app on my phones.
And I do not want them on my phones.

Nor do I want facebook.

Why? Technically Samsung Pay is more secure than carrying a credit card. The pseudo card that Samsung Pay uses can only be used in conjunction with your phone. If someone hacked your phone they couldn't use the card in SP.

BTW, in the 20 months or so that I've been using Samsung Pay I've found it works best if the phone is held about 2-3 inches above the swipe area of the pinpad. Setting the phone on the pinpad seems to cause read errors. My theory is that the signal is too strong at point blank range.

Heh. After five failed attempts to use Samsung Pay at terminals that accept NFC payments I switched over to Android Pay and haven't looked back.

It's a shame, too, since I wanted to be able to get rewards points from Samsung.

Sounds like a bank or visa issue. Never fails for me on either type of terminal non NFC or NFC. I don't even bother with the NFC part on the terminal. I always go with the MST and use the card swipe area.

Same card works fine on Android Pay on two different phones. Also worked fine on Apple Pay.

Same bank (different card) worked fine on the Note 5 with Samsung Pay.

/shrug

One problem though...i find myself spending more money just so I can use it!

I walk over to the cvs or walgreens to buy gum, next day candy, next day chap stick, etc lol. things i need but are not critical. plus this helps with my daily step goal

Just be careful, I looked into the Amazon card, 25% interest rate. That can easily get someone in trouble if they don't pay attention. But if you pay it off every time it is a good program.

I was looking into getting one. How is it?

I love it! Battery life varies from user to user, but it is the best smartwatch I've had to date. I don't plan on changing watches any time soon.

I gave up on Samsung pay and un-installed it from my S7Edge. Just far too unreliable. Seemed like better than half the time I had to quit fiddleing with the phone while folks were waiting in line behind me and just get out the real credit card that works every time.

Until its as reliable as a simple plastic card with a chip in it, its useless tech that just slows things down.

I'm sorry to hear your troubles, but you are in the minority. It may be as simple as not holding your phone in the correct spot.

Yes it works 99.9% of the time where I go. Phone placement, and terminal readiness for payment acceptance

Yes, I have received all 2500 points plus an additional 200 points for downloading the Shop Samsung app.

What is funny... I received all the points twice.. When I did the pre-order and received my phone on the 19th i set up samsung pay. I did the required transactions... got all the points.. I then had to exchange the phone for issues.. that second phone I setup samsung pay again and did all the transactions gave me the points again.. I am not complaining about that..
