Android Oreo rollout resumes for Galaxy S8/S8+

At this point, I believe someone at Samsung just forgot to press a button, and they just don't give enough of a **** for their *own customers* to bother to follow up or communicate anything. It's idiotic.

Contacted customer support. They say Oreo including a new security patch will be released to unlocked S8s this week or next week.

Can only assume that Samsung doesn’t think these updates are a big deal. They should be front and center with the unlocked rollout not bringing up the rear.

Have said this before but honestly if another manufacturer like LG were to say focus on vanilla android and getting updates out quickly that would imo really hurt Samsung. Maybe not LG but surely some manufacturers are going to start realising that this does matter to people as Samsung clearly does not.

Anyway cheer up t-minus 365 days until we get P!

Another great thing about going last is I know what to expect when I finally get it. No surprises. Sucks that they took away the ability to assign notification tones. It's not a big deal for me because I use a third party sms app, but not everyone wants or uses a third party app.

BlackBerry PRIV says hello, from the grave.

So smooth sailing so far, eh?
I have no complaints. It's been great actually. My wife's S8 however, it's showing classic signs of Samsung lag. She's not the Android nerd that we lot are. I'm gonna factory reset that phone at some point. Maybe today. Backed up last night.

I've never encountered the "Samsung Lag". That might be because I don't hold onto phones very long. :)

I ran her device maintenance yesterday. According to that, it was operating at 67% efficiency. Tons of lag when I was messing with it.

I'm also not really familiar with the Samsung lag. The S8 is my first Samsung device. I've seen this in other phones from other OEM's, but hers is on another level. Tons of stutters and hiccups.

I actually had a lot of lag until the update, now the phone is running like it's new.

But those if us that ran beta also wiped cache or had to do factory reset at least once. Plus oreety diligent on apps we install.

Might take two days fir battery to quiet down. As for lag, never ever on this S8+.

This! Factory reset after installing beta 1. Never had any issues.

I did a reset after one of the early beta releases but I don't remember it fixing anything at the time. I was trying to overcome the SD card issue I had but the reset didn't help with that. I always wipe the cache partition after an update out of habit. A reset can't hurt, that's for sure.
