Is anyone having issues opening the Amazon Alexa app?
If by 'won't open' you mean that it seems to hang with three dots cycling across the screen then, yes, I'm having the same problem.
I can't remember the last time I used it though; I may have used it on my Nexus 6P and just installed it on my Pixel 2 XL but never used it, so I can't say when the problem started.
Edit: just looked at the latest Google Play Store reviews and this is a pretty common problem. I find it hard to believe that all those people were running the Android P Beta so I have to believe there's something else going on (can you say 'lousy programming'?).

The Alexa app hangs on my Pixel XL running DP3. However, the same Alexa app opens right up and works just fine on my Pixel 2 XL running Oreo 8.1.

Most likely this is simply an issue with Alexa having not yet been updated to work with P. I will note that both phones are running version 2.2.210230.0 of the app, which is also the latest version available on the Google Play Store (dated June 1, 2018).

After working just fine on DP2, MLB.TV is not working DP3.

Audio works fine though.

Very possible, which is why I sent them an email to report the problem. Their suggestion: report the problem from within the app. Apparently reading is not high on their requirements list.

Did they give you any hints on how to report the problem from within the app when the app won't load? ;)

I'm starting to notice my fingerprint reader is not working a hundred percent of the time lately. Reboot always fixes it but it doesn't last.

I assume you tried cleaning the sensor. Try remapping your prints.

Your assumption is correct. Funny thing is it is sporatic, fine for awhile then acts up for a few trys then fine for awhile. Maybe another update of the OS would fix, or I can also try a full reset which I have not done on "P" yet. Not a big deal "yet".

Factory resets often fix a bunch of things. Sometimes it's good to clear everything out.

Turned off the gestures. It just pisses me off. I can't get the swipes right. I either get the app drawer when I don't want it or can't get it when I do want it or the recents when I'm not trying to.....

Also not sold on the horizontal scrolling through recent apps, it seems harder to me. Same reason I don't like a horizontal app drawer.

I can't pin down why I prefer the vertical scrolling through the Recents list than the horizontal setup, but I do too.

I think Vertical swiping is just more intuitive. More natural to the movement of the thumb.

Not a big fan of the gestures either. Kind of trying to get used to them anyway. Not a big time waster but it is irritating.

LMAO!!!!

Yep, that's how my thumbs move. Though now closing an app is easier. But scrolling through recent apps is slower and less precise for me. I often go past the app I want.
