Android Q public beta has launched

Files works for me. It just says downloads is empty, but if you click on the tabs it will list documents of a particular type in that folder.
Same with me
Strange. I don't even get that far.
Edit: hope you actually looked at the link I provided and are not confusing this with the 'Files' application (stupid of Google to have two apps so closely named).

For those of you already experimenting with Android Q beta, what is its stability level? Would you recommend it for a 'daily driver' right now, or wait for the 3rd or 4th beta release? Thanks!!

Overall, this DP1 seems remarkably stable, but it's only been two days. Who knows what tomorrow might bring? And that's the thing to keep in mind. I'm using it on my daily driver because this isn't my first beta program rodeo, but every time I find out something actually works--like call screening--it comes as a pleasant surprise. If you're OK with day-to-day insecurity and your quality of life doesn't depend upon the reliability of your phone, then this beta may be for you.

Yes. If you need stability of apps and few bugs on a daily driver i would wait. I don't mind resetting my phone and am used to betas so I am happy to use it. But it is very stable for a first beta.

Screen unlock has been working much better than it ever did before between my Pixelbook and 2XL on Q. I always experienced a considerable lag both before the Pixelbook prompted me to unlock my phone and between the time I unlocked the phone and the time the lockscreen on the Pixelbook disappeared, something in the 5-seconds range for each. That's been shaved down to a blink now.

Knock on wood, Google won't mess that up going forward, but that's probably precisely the sort of experience that's going to vary wildly from DP to DP.

I hope you don't mind me asking
I notice you use PIA VPN. I'm looking to use one and that is one I have read about. How do you like it? Works well?

Thanks.

At least Magisk is still usable, thanks to Topjohnwu rewriting it for us (Magisk Canary Channel - Bleeding Edge Builds). Some of the old apps need updating (Terminal Emulator still reminds that it's for an earlier version, but it works.) And it's still going to take some getting used to, to swipe notifications to the right to get rid of them.

And Link2SD (I use it to freeze apps) takes a l.o.n.g t.i.m.e to get its list of apps - longer even than in Pie.

But it's still good enough for a first beta that I'm leaving it on my daily driver for now.
