I'm going to instal Purity tonight a d just want some reassurance my understanding of the process order is correct.

1. backup current ROM with bootstrap. (did when first rooted, do I need to again?)

2. backup with ROM manager.

3. backup with TBPro. (moved backup location to sd-ext)

4. backup go launcher. (I noticed GL is backing up to internal sd, what's the best way to switch that to sd-ext? just create same folder structure on sd-ext with RootEx and move, then move back to internal after wipe? or can I actually change the location from GL settings?)

5. update to leaked .893 (optional I know, but I want the updated radio and kernel)

6. wipe phone.

7. instal ROM.

8. Over clock (optional but I want to)

9. restore all backups after letting phone sit for a while after installing ROM.

I think this is right?

Nah not if you haven't changed much, just have one for safety net.
2. backup with ROM manager.
Negative.. RM doesn't always play nice, don't bother.
3. backup with TBPro. (moved backup location to sd-ext)
Yup.
4. backup go launcher. (I noticed GL is backing up to internal sd, what's the best way to switch that to sd-ext? just create same folder structure on sd-ext with RootEx and move, then move back to internal after wipe? or can I actually change the location from GL settings?)
This is fine, when you wipe and install rom your internal sd will remain intact :)
5. update to leaked .893 (optional I know, but I want the updated radio and kernel)
Sure, I recommend it.
6. wipe phone.
In CWR (you get to it from bootatrapper obv): Wipe data/factory reset, Under Mounts and Storage> format /system then format /cache, under Advanced> wipe /dalvik.
7. instal ROM.
Yep Install from sd card. Reboot. First boot takes a few minutes. Let sit 5minutes after boot. Setup. Then go back, wipe cache and dalvik only, and install a Tpak (pick any, i recommend IC3 but you can always switch). Reboot.
8. Over clock (optional but I want to)
Sure if you want
EDIT: I want to add, droidth3ory puts a lot of effort into technical-jargon-i-can't-explain that makes his ROMs, especially Purity, run really, really smooth already. I would just suggest play around with it on its own for a while or couple days and see if you really need to overclock. Additionally the Powerboost script he uses (which is fully integrated into Purity automatically) might not play nice with an overclocking script, because powerboost regulates your processor on its own to save battery life and provide smoothness.
9. restore all backups for a while after installing ROM.
Your apps will redownload from market automatically. Use TiBu to restore data to games and stuff, but try to use it sparingly. Just set up everything you can from scratch.

I think this is right?

Typed all that from my phone lol hopefully it makes sense.. Just ask if unclear :)

no, this:
In CWR (you get to it from bootatrapper obv): Wipe data/factory reset, Under Mounts and Storage> format /system then format /cache, under Advanced> wipe /dalvik.

It sat like that for 20min before I pulled the battery and wiped it with R3l3AS3D and re-rooted. Then I was able to flash the ROM but Im having some issues with it now. My Yahoo wouldn't connect to server, had to download the standalone app, and no Hotmail option either, so I can't use the universal mailbox (is that part of blur?). Also, since the ROM was flashed battery life is HORRID, like down 7% in 22min from full charge...

I tried doing the UnThrottle stuff, deleted the folder from my SD card, but the script wouldn't run, so now I think its just gone.

followed this:
HOW TO USE UNTHROTTLE

WARNING!!! REMOVE ALL TRACES OF UNTHROTTLE (1.5) FROM YOUR SDCARD (INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL BEFORE FLASHING THE ROM!

Open Terminal And Type

su (Hit Enter)

ut.sh (Hit Enter)

Select Option 1 BEFORE GOING FORWARD

Follow the prompts on the screen.

Select reboot from main menu, and HOLD ON!

didnt work..

so Should I just reflash the base?

edit: also don't seem to have webtop anymore after updating the kernal, phone info says version "unavailable"?

You only delete traces of unthrottle BEFORE flashing the base. If it's your first time flashing the base, obv no need to bother.

And every time you flash a rom you're going to have a "settling in" period of a solid day or 2 before you see what it does for battery life.. And yes during that period its going to drain quicker than normal. You also need to recalibrate your battery after a new rom flash. To do it on your own.. Charge complete to 100%, reboot into CWR, in Advanced wipe battery stats. Reboot and unplug, do not charge just use the phone until is completely discharges and dies, then plug in and charge to 100% again (give a few extra minutes to make sure it's FULL). Done.

I did not know that, thanks! I reflashed the Purity base, then flashed IC3 per your instructions, so far perfection! This phone is a whole different animal so far. I see how this can get addicting...

Still don't know why I don't have webtop, though I have never and probably will never use it. I am running on 7.893 though, so thats good.

Shift3r is good if you need all the Blur stuff, because everything you've been saying that's missing is a part of Blur (although I think they have a way to flash webtop) I'm running Shift3r until they get the CyanogenMod 9 Ice Cream Sandwich port stable.

You can use this thread to get webtop - I'm not sure I'll use it either but I have it, just in case I want to play... ;)

Easily Upgrade To 5.7.893, Keep Root And Webtop - RootzWiki

download the webtop zip file, put it on your external SD card, boot into clockworkmod and select install from zip.

I installed all the zip files in the op of that thread, including the "not needed" ones. Is there another webtop zip in that thread I missed?

Yes. In the middle of the op there's a webtop hack. I can't upload a file from tapatalk but trust me its there. It's titled webtop-bionicmod.zip.

Sent from my [P]URIFI3D Droid Bionic

Can I run this after installing the ROM and setting everything up or do I need to start from scratch again?

Is your problem that Webtop is showing as unavailable under About Phone.. Or just that you can't get the hack to work?
If the former, then you should try using releasedroot to flash back to stock, then the complete update file at the top of the "Easily upgrade... " thread at RootzWiki, which I believe you need to flash in stock recovery not CWR (confirm that). That should make Webtop available.

The second issue, the "Webtop hack" will allow you to use Webtop over just an hdmi cord, but obviously not if your Webtop isn't working at all first. The hack itself can be flashed whenever, you can do it over the rom or in any order you want. Just wipe cache and dalvik and flash it, takes literally 2 secs to do its thing.

I did flash that first file on the easily upgrade thread, so should be good there. I'll try flashing your link. To answer your question, yes it says Unavailable in about phone for webtop.

Again, the Webtop mod hack will not help if your Webtop is Unavailable. Did you flash the first file I mentioned in stock recovery or cwr?

I thought stock recovery....I really don't want to start from scratch again. I've never used webtop and don't know when I would so I may hold off on it for now if I need to go back to stock and do this all again, I just got it all setup again.
