Any automated way to turn on/off wifi hotspot?

I use wifi hotspot a lot. I'd like to be able to turn if off automatically via a program. Like when I get in my car. Yet, I've not been able to find a program that will do this. Yes, many of them say they will and some programs like AutomatIT Pro have plugins of this but non of them actually work.

On the S8+ i could use an app that turns ON wifi which would then turn off the hotspot. But that doesn't work on the Note 8 as it allows both wifi and the wifi hotspot to both be on at the same time.

Has anyone found a program that will do this? I'm not looking for apps that say they do it, just apps that you know will do it.

Same here, but I've also not been able to find one that work reliably by location, which is what I want.

The first thing that comes to my mind is to use the Bixby software automation to create a wifi on/hotspot off combo and another to wifi off / hotspot on combo.

I don't know of any apps that can do this.

Unfortunately, Tasker doesn't work either. It has the ability built in, but it just does nothing.

Have you tried an app called Settings Profile or Macrodroid

Try an app called Automate. It's similar to Tasker. I use it to turn on/off wifi with some rules - they call them flows and there are a bunch that you can download to us as is or modify.

Why not use Bixby. Just make a custom command. That way for example when you get to where you use it like work for example you just click the button and day I'm at work and it will come on.

Not automatic but only a button press. That's what I do. I just say I'm leaving and my Wi-Fi turns off and my Wi-Fi hotspot turns on. Pretty simple.

they used to. mine worked for a year or two and then all support seemed to stop. I haven't found anything since, but haven't looked hard either. ITTT might work too, but haven't looked into it.

I was trying several app to do this and finally found one: MacroDroid. It works on LG V30.

Bixby quick commands are amazing and they you don't waste battery life having an app constantly monitoring your GPS and other functions simply say a word or phrase to bixby and she takes care of it

I use the pro version and it stopped working for me to turn wifi on and off a couple of years ago. the trouble started by the app itself disabling my rules for it. now they can be enabled but don't work right. would love to know your rule settings. thanks.
