Any EB13 Users get the OTA update to EC05? Post here!

i haven't received the EC05 ota yet either. I live in Fort Hood, TX. I'm on EB13 right now (update.zip file from samsung) and i'm rooted. I had something pop up yesterday that said session in progress please wait. but nothing happened. i would odin back to Eclair 2.1 but i had a bad experience with odin where i bricked my phone and everything i did to revive it that i found from these forums didn't work and sprint tried to reload my os and couldn't either and replaced my phone for a brand new one in store. so i'm hesistant to do odin

I haven't recived the ec05 yet on my eb13 but my buddy and his girl did and i had upgraded them to eb13 with the upgrade off samsungs site

This is good news if true because that's exactly how I updated... used the method from Samsung's website and was running EB13 Froyo with no problems whatsoever (besides the camera sports mode thing)... come on OTAs, keep rolling!!!

All you have to do is take 5min and flash back to D18 through Odin and you'll get the udpates in 10min. It's really that simple. I just did folks.

Well I waited as long as I could... Your post pushed me to go ahead and go back to D18. EC05 installing now! Thanks! :)

I know it's been asked a billion times but I'm asking it again. I have EB13. If I flash back to eclair using odin and then use odin again to go up to EC05 will it erase my data, root, apps, whatever OR will it it only change the android OS?

I had EB13 and went back to DI18 and got the update right away. Now running faster with no complaints.

I did the same thing yesterday. I was on EB13 and didn't get an OTA. I flashed back to stock D18 and I got my update.

I was on EB13, and I never got the update, so I decided not to hold my breath for Samsung and Sprint to update me, so I went ahead and used Odin with Paul's EC05 rom to update myself directly from EB13 to EC05 with no data loss.

It worked flawlessly, I got to keep all my data intact, and I'm rooted for the first time ever.

Chances are that Sprint might not ever update EB13 users which is petty messed up since many people got it as an official OTA update, and it was on Samsung's site as an official update.

According to Paul, since this is a clean rom, I should be able to receive future official OTA updates from Sprint. I guess I just have to put up with being rooted, and having CWM as my recovery menu (as if this is a bad thing).

Yes, I could have went back to eclair and updated officially, but the thought of having everything erased and having to reinstall everything from scratch would have been too annoying.

Did have EB13 and didn't get the update as of an hour ago. I finally took the plunge and used odin to go back to 18 from EB13. It only took 3 minutes. Low and behold, EC05 started downloading right away and now I have a perfect Epic, at least until I check more, with the new EC05 on it. Odin was very easy to do. Just follow the instructions. It sounds like you might wait a while or maybe never get the update staying on EB13. Hope people that wait get there update soon.

Glad to hear that Odin has been working for those that tried it. Please post about your success in another thread. This thread is for those that prefer to wait for the OTA on EB13 and prefer not to do the Odin method, regardless. Thanks :) Just trying to keep the thread on topic.

Running manual eb13 froyo. Got the update message Thursday but still no ec05 yet

Ok folks, I'd like to ask you again, PLEASE DO NOT POST in this thread UNTIL YOU:

1. HAVE EB13....AND:

2. Get EC05

3. OVER THE AIR!

If we don't hear from you, we assume you haven't gotten it yet and if you couldn't wait and tried the ODIN method, please start a new thread. We are all waiting for word in THIS thread for people who had EB13 who got the EC05 OTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

here is some updated information from sprint's forums:

Re: 3/21 - Samsung Epic Maintenance Release (Android 2.2) - EC05

~ Additional information for the FROYO 2.2 Update for the Samsung Epic ~

EB13 phones ARE receiving the update notification. Many posters have claimed there are ZERO reports of EB13 phones receiving the EC05 update or that EB13 phones will not receive the update; this is factually not true. If you are on this version and haven’t received the update notification, make sure your phone is visible to the Google servers by updating or downloading an app or game from the market. And, since the update is pushed from Google, Sprint is and was being told that all Epics would get the update within the previous mentioned 4 days but as we’ve seen, it may take a few days longer, so please be patient. Some Sprint Service & Repair Centers have received the Android 2.2 software to update the Samsung Transform manually via OTW or Over the Wire. They have not received the software for the Epic as of today, but have been told they will receive it by the end of March. Check with your local Sprint Service & Repair Center for an Epic OTW update if you still have not received the update notification by the end of March.

“Buggy” EB13 phones – We have several posts stating that EB13 was buggy from the initial install, but performing a factory data reset resolved many of the issues and made EB13 quite stable. For those stating their EB13 is problematic, we recommend a factory data reset or even better the Sprint ##RTN, (which clears the programming info as well), prior to updating to EC05. Factory reset can be done through menu, settings, Privacy. The ##RTN requires a special code that customer care can give you. These resets have been quite successful in clearing many software anomalies experienced by some Epic owners. There are many backup applications in the market for those wishing to backup more than just contacts prior to performing the reset. For those unaware of the import/export feature for contacts, it’s a menu option when in the contact application and it copies your contacts to the SD. Export sends them to the SD; Import brings them back after the reset.

Speak Incoming Caller ID Feature – This feature was available on DI18 (Android 2.1) listed under the “Text-to-Speech” setting. Text-to-Speech has been changed to “Voice Input and Output” with the Text-to-Speech being a sub option. The Speak Incoming Caller ID feature was removed. There are, however, many apps available in the market that can add this feature back to your phone. Just search Speaking Caller ID in the market.

Just as I said in post #58, EB13 folks arent getting it unless you either go to Sprint, or odin back to DI18
