Any Nexus 6 owners switching to the Nexus 2016?

It arrives 8/19. Give me a day or two and I will post my impressions/satisfaction.

Frankly, I wanted to purchase the upcoming Nexus. When I learned that the display had been downsized I decided to give the Note 7 a shot instead.

I'd be curious to hear your impressions once you get the device. I was thinking about the galaxy s7e to replace my nexus 6, mainly for the camera, but I don't think I'm ready to leave stock android and on-screen buttons.

I tried the S7E over my N6, it went back ASAP!

Lovely screen, great camera and uber slick/fast, but the Edge ruins it for me, it's too much. It's overall too small, especially coming from an N6, screen protectors are useless and for me, they're paramount!

The Note 7 is tempting, but it's still on Marshmellow with no real date set for Nougat, whereas I'm running 7 Beta on my N6 with no issues at all!

No hard and fast date, sure. But considering how far along 7.0 is already and how intently Samsung has been cranking out monthly security updates for its most recent flagships, it'll be a shock if the Note 7 doesn't have some version of 7.0 before the end of 2016.

Can understand that

But why launch their flagship phone, with the old Android OS?!

Here in the UK, SIM free I'll be looking at close to £700 (c$1000 USD) and will still have to wait months to get it up to speed to the latest Android OS!

Until I know its being rolled out and updated in the UK; I'll stay put with my N6!

Sensible plan. If Samsung would lay off the prettypretty glass-all-over designs, I might be tempted myself. I'd love an excellent large display that could crank 1000 nits when needed.

Not at all. So much so that I debated even clicking on this thread since I'm done thinking about them.

With a smaller screen and usually ok screen brightness....I ordewred the Note 7. I paid almost 700.00 for the N6 and pow with in a few months it was down to 499.00 With the launch of the 6P t was down to 299.00 and then 199.00. I just paid my installment balance off early to go Note 7. I had a N5 and N6 o.g. but now I am back to Samsung since the Galaxy S3.

I really am not feeling the smaller screen. When the 6P goes lower I may buy that for Google fi. So long Nexus until you get more consistent with each progression going forward not backwards. If they never go back to at least 5.7 I wont buy this line again. Good riddance...

Don't even say but the speedy software updates are worth it. With the carriers looking to push Volte, and Lte 5 you will need to upgrade hardware in the next 2 to 3 years, and the Sammy Note 7 will cut the mustard for me.

After lengthy deliberation, I have pre-ordered a Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

I am not, in any way, dissatisfied with my N6. It has been a well-performing handset that met my expectations. This is the proverbial hunt for a better mousetrap as I am a confessed gadget guy. Besides, for $35.00, I can return the Note 7 within fourteen days and revert back to the N6.

I took an LG V10 for a brief period of time recently. That went back since I was not pleased by the absence of a color LED for notifications. My N6 (thanks to guidance received via this forum) was rooted and I used Light Flow for notifications.

I have the Nexus 6 and I am also using the latest beta. It is smooth and fast still, and I am only updating this because I can and I wanted a great screen, great camera, nice battery size, and a Note since the Note 4. My Note 7 Should be here by the 19th as well I am sadly, but enthusiastically excited about the Note 7 and Samsung since the Galaxy S3. I wish there was some king of fluid continuation with the Nexus line but Google is clueless in their direction and they are all over the place and very inconsistent with their next iteration. No more baited breath holding on for a 5.7 r larger Nexus for me.

I really don't want a smaller display than 6". I refuse to give up front facing speakers. If the new one doesn't have them, I will probably get a cheap 6P. I avoided the 6P because I did not want to give up wireless charging and change my cables. If the phone has front facing speakers and wireless charging I'll be super excited, though still not happy about a smaller display. Also what's up with the giant bezels, this isn't an iPhone.

My Note 7 (Verizon) arrived yesterday. I confess to staying up until 2am tinkering with it - every old geezer loves a new challenge!

I am impressed. While the display is slightly smaller - 5.7 versus our beloved N6's 6.0, the colors are rich and the font size can be adjusted to my liking. Wile any music I download is bluetoothed to an audio system (albeit car or home), the device speaker audio is clear.

My phone is used mainly for making phone calls - seems odd in this overwhelming high-tech age the younger folks understand; much to my chagrin. Next comes texting (I loathe it!!!) - - whatever happened to writing a letter - postal workers depend on us for job security! Then comes email (SPAM is a processed meat we ate in Vietnam, it has a whole new meaning nowadays). Then it's onto the dreaded Internet to read a few news sites I fancy.

All of the above work well on both the Note 7 and N6. I went to an laternative browser - the ad-free version of Lightening Browser and highly prefer it versus Chrome. Likewise to TypeMail over any stock email app. Texts I do via Chomp. Notifications via LightFlow (thus my need to "root" in order for the N6 LED to function - inconsiderate omission by the manufacturer, IMO).

I have 14 days to make my "keeping" decision. Worse scenario being that I pay $35.00 for being fickle.

I am wagering that I will keep the Note 7. I know "me" and my thirst for the latest gadget cannot be quenched. Irony is what-with my novice tech ability, I probably never use most of what any handset is capable of doing.

That said, I want to publicly thank all of you for sharing your ideas and perspectives in this most worthwhile forum. It has been of great value to me over the past 13 months I have been using my N6.

You younger people are our future. It is your hearts, minds and lust to better our world that will take America forward. Never give up!

Regards,

Fred

Brilliant write up!

You sound like me, yet I'm only 37!

My business is in social media, but I'm not keen on texts either... haha
