Away from home and taking photos. I connect the Fold to my laptop via usb. Unfortunately I have over 9,000 photos in that subfolder. But frankly, I do like when Google offers collages including many of the stored photos. So if I moved them to another subfolder Google would probably not scan/offer them when doing those collages.

Is there some way to speed up the scanning of that rather crowded dcim/camera folder?

Or might google look in subfolders below that dcim\camera folder?

Thanks

As long as the folder is included in the Back Up locations, it will include it to suggest Collages, Videos, Enhanced shots, etc. Just open the Photos app, tap your profile picture and go to Photos settings. There select the Back up option and make sure that the folder you want to use is selected in 'Back up device folders'.

Note that if you move the files in your phone, as long as the file names and metadata of the picture haven't changed, Photos will not create duplicates of said files and will continue to sync them. (If you move the files without adding the new folder to the sync option, the pictures will 'disappear' from Photos' back up as it will consider those pictures/videos 'deleted').

Oh, shyly asking... where are these backup photos stored? I just quickly looked at Google Drive and did not see them there?

Thanks.

Depends on the service you're using, but if you're using Google's Photos, then that's where they are stored (they used to 'link' Photos and Drive so you could see the media in the latter, but I think that's been removed for a while). Basically different storage services under the same Google Account storage limit (unless you select the 'compressed' option for pictures that doesn't 'count' against the quota or you have a promotional plan from a Pixel device that allows for uncompressed 'free' storage).
