I noticed most of the reviews of this phone say that the speaker is not loud enough for them. However, this phone is the only phone that I've ever kept on half to three quarters of full volume to keep it from blasting me out of my seat. I have the Best Buy blue edition if it matters. It's a good thing and I'd rather keep it that way, just wanted to see if I'm a rare breed...lol.

My speaker is the loudest I've ever used.

My earpiece during calls on the other hand isn't loud enough

Just the other day, my coworker goes, holy s......are you deaf that you need to have your ringer on that loud?!?!? I'm like.....I have the volume half way!!!!!!! Mine is freakin LOUD!!

Yup, mine is nicely loud. I was playing a song for my wife the other day and thought, "this sounds pretty good!" I use Equaliser FX.

The speakers on mine are nice and loud but the handset speaker when on a call is not as loud as I wish it was.

Definitely agree on loudness, and I'm not all that surprised given that the speaker unit at the bottom of the phone is actually quite beefy. For music and audio I always have my UE Roll connected though - it sounds better and doesn't muffle the high frequencies like the back-firing speaker.

Mine is plenty loud as well. Just cupping my hand behind the phone allows redirection of the sound to the front.

It's so loud for notifications that it's actually a negative for me. There aren't enough steps of volume to lower it... I keep my phone on the absolute lowest volume (right before vibrate) when at home unless I have something else loud going on. The phone is crazy, ridiculously loud.

The volume for media is pretty decent too, although the volume while on a phone call isn't always awesome. Notifications, though, good lord...

Usually, I look for the loudest ringtone I can find (or make) but with this device, I look for sounds that are low or not aggressively loud. I have a sound effect for my ringtone that sounds like sonar....pretty awesome sound when I blast it and it echoes throughout my office, lol!

Glad I'm not the only one. Was on my computer today balancing bills and got a text and damn near had a heart attack!

Lol! The other day I was passing out on my couch and had the phone right by the arm rest by my ear and forgot to lower the volume. I was cursing at my phone because it gave me a jolt when it rang, lol!

Same here, nice and loud... But I've now turned all notifications off since I got my pebble time steel 😀

Mine was pretty dang loud (I gave it to my friend who is now using it). Never really had any issues.

I now have a Moto X Pure Edition which seems louder.. Most likely due to the dual Front facing so it's thrown at me which I'm sure helps.

A bit curious as to why you switched to the MXPE?

I wanted to get quick updates and also wanted to try stock (or well close enough) Android since I never have. I've always used a skin version like Samsung, HTC, LG, etc.
