Anybody else have zero interest in a 4.5" device

I just got a photon, and one of my cheif complaints with it is that it's a little too large. It barely fits in my pockets, and just feels too big. I would like a high-end phone that was smaller, even if it had to be a little fatter to fit everything in.

As the technolog improves the amount of your phone that is taken up by the screen will increase, meaning an increase in screen size might not always come with an increase in form factor size. I'm guessing in the future a lot of 4.5" phones will be very similar in size today's 4.3" phones and simply have less of area around the sides which is not part of the screen.

I went from the EVO to the Nexus S 4G - I would love a larger screen, but really like the overall phone size of the Nexus. So hopefully someone will a 4.3 - 4.5" screen with the Nexus size.

The X2 chassis is just a little too wide for a natural feel. A Nexus Prime style screen on an Incredible chassis would be perfect. Should be around 4.3".

A 4.3" qHD screen would be nice, but resolution would be 960 x 540. Impressive, a year ago... By this time next year or even as soon as CTIA we are going to be seeing S-AMOLED HD screens that have a resoulution of 1280 x 720, true HD. The problem is they can only shrink it to 5" at present. As the tech evolves, we will see better screens on smaller phones.

I don't think phone size is growing because the manufactorers think we want bigger phones. Phone size is growing because everyone is trying to keep up with Samsung screens and that is as small as they can make them for a "True Top Tier" phone with a mind bending display.

The tech already evolved down to 4.5", there was a story on the home page this morning. I for one cannot wait for a phone rocking SAMOLED HD screen this size. I love my Evo and have never felt that it was too big. Probably due to having large hands though...

My hands are disproporianately palm. I have short fingers. If I was normal I guess I would like the large screen size, but for me anything over 4" feels like a small tablet rather than a phone. SAMOLED HD sounds amazing, but current technology allows for some truly gorgeous LCD displays at more modest screen sizes. I think that it actually is the demand for large screens thats causing hardware companies to produce large phones.

Quite frankly 4.5+ screen size for a phone is ridiculous. Might as well walk around with a Galaxy tab up to your ear at this rate. Personally I feel 4 is perfect, but 4.3 is doable. To each his own though.

As I've said in another thread, ICS supports a buttonless display, so a 4.5" screen could fit in a current 4.3" or 4" chassis after removing some bezel

If it fits in a 4" chassis I'll be happy. 4.3" chassis I'm not so interested in

Even if those buttons are "soft", you still need them to navigate around the phone, so what's the savings?

The buttons can come and go as you need them. Like your keyboard. Very unlike capacitive buttons.

The savings is a smaller form factor than everyone is thinking. So 4.5" isn't such a pseudo-tablet as you think.....

4.3 is as big is I'll go. Friend of mine has the streak don't know how he survives.

I'm sorry your comment made me chuckle. I have moved from an iphone 3g. The screen in the iPhone is much too small in opinion, but awhile back I held an evo and I detested it. My atrix I feel is the sweet spot. I love it.

Once again... 4.5" does not always mean the form factor will be bigger. People seem to ignore this despite the fact that a few people on here are basically waiving there hands up and down jumping and screaming about the fact that the phones physically might not get any bigger.
